FIRST WORD OF FIRST VEDA: AGNI

ANTI - AGEING ASANAS

Weak joints, wrinkled skin, graying hair – these are the signs of body succumbing to ageing. It is true that the body is constantly moving towards destruction, but it is also true that there exist ways to arrest this process.  Ageing is synonymous to loss of sukra in the body. Sukra is the subtle element that provides luster to hair and skin, strength to joints and organs, longevity, and attraction normally seen in abundance in saints and evolved beings, which pulls one towards them unknowingly.  This sukra gets dried up due to constant hyperactivity and excessive ama(toxin) produced in the body due to certain unhealthy practices. The four major reasons for the loss of sukra in the body are emotional congestion, excessive physical labor, anger and overindulgence in sexual activities.  A practitioner of Sanatan Kriya is able to check all four without having to make a conscious effort or suppressing any desires.  While curtailing these prevents ageing...

MEDITATION IS NOT DHYAN

There are three states of mind, which modern sciences acknowledge — the conscious, unconscious and subconscious states. The fourth state, which science does not acknowledge is the super conscious state or turiya state. There is confusion between meditation, hypnosis and dhyana. They are thought to be the same, but vedic rishis had experiences of subtler dimensions. Mantras enabled them to see images of devas and devis. With their help, they could manifest in the (unreal) physical world objects like various weaponry, heal the diseased, bestow physical attributes, wealth…and the like. This was the state of dhyana which they were in,the turiya state, and so they could do all this. In dhyana, there is no pratyaya or object of focus. There is purna, or shunya. The five senses are at rest. You don’t focus on anything. You are everywhere, yet you are nowhere. You let go.  Depending on your karmas, divinity takes over you and the guru guides you to higher realms and into reality. Siddhi...

THIS HOLI, PURIFY YOURSELF WITH SANATAN KRIYA

The physical creation is a manifestation of the five elements in their various permutations and combinations. These elements come together to form a body because there is an impurity or  dosh a. As per ayurveda , these  doshas  are  vata pita and kapha , as per other vedas it is a selfish/negative thought. The  dosha  along with its action tendency determines your  prakriti  or basic nature. The level of impurity reflects upon the thought process of a person. The purer are the elements, the higher are the thoughts and more are the impurities, the grosser thoughts one catches from the environment. Fire or  agni  deserves a special mention among the five elements as it is the only element that cannot be polluted. It is also the only element that rises up, despite the pull of gravity. The implication of this is that  agni  purifies anything that comes in contact with it and holds the capacity to make you rise. No wonder i...

BEING SPIRITUAL IS NOT BEING AN ESCAPIST

We do not find in any book the Great Lord Shiv, who is also called 'Mahadeva', at any point letting go of his responsibilities towards Mata Shakti or his family. So what escapism are we talking about ? "

जीवन में संतुलन के लिए करें चक्र संतुलन क्रिया

SPIRITUAL EQUATION

When we talk of meditation, we are actually talking about hypnosis; the two words are synonyms, for those who understand both. It is dhyan which actually I am referring to. The present day human being is a devolved version of the beings of the vedic period, where dharma was foremost - even before self and therefore the pollution levels of air, water and soil were negligible. It is only when the human being began retracting his vision towards his individual self and finally, in today's yug, not looking beyond oneself, the environment responded and a plethora of diseases and problems of all kinds - mental, emotional and physical took gigantic and multi-faceted forms. The human race today is on the verge of extinction only due to its myopic vision of creation, limiting to oneself only - the self-destructing philosophy of I, me and myself...all this leading is to a low level of consciousness and vice versa, a vicious circle. The practice of dhyan is a clear exit route fro...

MAHASHIVRATRI

Nature has its way of providing for balance in this Creation. For every aspect there exists an equal and opposite. Darkness is nothing but absence of Light. Similarly, Silence is nothing but the absence of Sound. It is only the duality in nature, the co-existence of positive and negative that gives meaning to the existence of the whole. What if at any given time, there exists the entire positive and negative? Then the two will balance each other out completely resulting in a shunya, and yet it is poorna or complete. In other words, there would be everything yet nothing. The only form that could fit such a description is the formless – Nirakaar, Para Brahma. This is the swaroop of Shiv.  In the words of Shankaracharya, 'Na Punyam Na Paapam Na Saukhyam Na Dukham Chidananda Rupa Shivoham Shivoham.' What then is the dancing male form, or the half-man-half-woman, or a sadhu clad in loin cloth with body smeared in bhasma? Are Natraj, Ardhnareshwar and Ne...

A GURU IS LIFETIME ENERGY

EVERYDAY A NEW HIGH

Being a yoga guru and having students from all walks of life from all over the world, my life would seem very cushy and comfortable with an over-spilling bank balance. But to disappoint all the gurus in the making (who are aiming for overflowing bank balances by getting into selling of yoga) and to scare those who are already doing it, I would like to highlight the reality. To embark on this beautiful journey called yog, you come in contact with various aspects of divinity and a one-to-one connection is developed with them. The siddhis detailed in Patanjali Ashtang Yog are accessed easily – be it wealth, it is at your beck and call without having to sell any complicated asans and kriyas; or the opposite sex, it follows you like bees follow nectar. Even the manifestation of thoughts becomes so fast that you have to only think and the thought materializes. BUT…to disappoint you all, the situation at this point of time becomes like, ‘water, water everywhere not a drop to drink’. ...
