How to dissolve body contamination?

This is our body and all around us is the environment. This is our body and all around us is the environment. This body is also a part of the environment because everything is made of the five elements—earth, water, fire, air and ether. Actually, the body is made up of 24 tatvas.  The element that is most relevant to this discussion is ‘I’—asmita, aham, ahankar or ego. That is the most important tatva. It is also the first one to get contaminated. In order to contaminate the air in you, a few breaths of polluted air have to be inhaled. But not even a breath is required to contaminate the ego. It happens in an instant.  If you tell a beautiful girl that she is ugly, immediately she believes that she is ugly. After that even if 100 people tell her that she is pretty, she will continue to think she is ugly. The first thing to get contaminated is the ego and that is also the biggest test of a sadhak. The person whose ego is not affected by anything, no matter what ...

Mystic Mantra: Practice Yams and Niyams in totality to realise God

Make your connection so powerful that every time you undergo pain, He experiences it too and is forced to look at you and give you what you desire. If we look back in history, some of the most amazing scientific feats are attributed to Bharatvarsha, be it the concept of “shunya” or “purna”, mechanism of solar system, the law of gravitation, Pythagoras theorem, science of metallurgy and more, all were mastered by the Vedic seers. Some of the most wondrous pieces of architecture were built thousands of years ago by the Vedic masters and remain unparalleled in this age of modern technology. Not just this, the strength of their bodies and the abilities they possessed is unheard of in present times as are their descriptions of paranormal and direct interactions with gods and goddesses. Why is it then that so many invasions have taken place and so many times our temples have been looted and plundered, when we had such an advanced culture with so much knowledge? Take a...

Mystic Mantra: Laws of creation same for everyone

Lord Vishnu, the energy responsible for running creation, ensures that one is amply warned and reminded of his/her karma at various stages. Creation, and life, as a part of creation, is governed by karmas. Karmas decide what you are and where you are headed. Life runs in a spiral, the physical life is a downward moving spiral and spiritual life is an upward spiral. Physical life pertains to the gratification of five senses — a life of selfishness. Such a life paves way to entry to lower dimensions and lower levels of existence and more painful births. Spiritual life starts when one can feel the pain of others and works to reduce that pain — a move towards selflessness. Under the influence of maya, the glue that binds us to the physical, one forgets the path of karma and is driven into the whirlpool of destruction by living for just self. Lord Vishnu, the energy responsible for running creation, ensures that one is amply warned and reminded of his/her karma at variou...

Mystic Mantra: The spiritual journey

Any aspect of physical, be it relationship, business, wealth or power, is temporary in nature. For most of us, the physical world that we perceive with the five senses is all there is. If you think about it, you would realise there is little to do here — food, sex, money, power, relationships & creativity. But even on achieving these, one is left asking for more. Take the example of sweets, the same combination of flour, sugar and oil (and chemicals!) one eats in hundreds of forms, and still there are newer varieties for one to taste. Innovation is unending, life passes but the taste buds want more, something different. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Hence, all pleasures have an inherent mechanism towards an automatic process called destruction. Senses dull away with age, tastes don’t. Body fades away, tastes don’t. Any aspect of physical, be it relationship, business, wealth or power, is temporary in nature. The more you indulge in it, th...

OVERCOME OBSTACLES TO MEET SHIVA

Mata Parvati was the daughter of a great king. When she chose to marry Lord Shiva, her parents objected and ridiculed her decision. They asked her why she would want to stay at Mount Kailash where there is nothing but snow, instead of marrying a man owning a huge kingdom and a palace. To this, she replied that all of these are temporary. When her parents didn’t believe her, she gave them a glimpse of their future. They were shocked to see that their lavish palace was nowhere to be seen, it didn’t exist. That is when they understood what their daughter was saying. That is when they got the gyan. Everything that is a part of the physical world—the body, property, relatives, friends and riches—is unreal and will leave us one day. It is only when you are able to access Shiva that this gyan flows and you get the darshan of what is real. The path leading to Shiva, however, is not easy. Sadhaks, who choose to tread this path, need to possess traits like Shiva—tapasya, vairag...

माया के सात द्वार और शान्मुखी मुद्रा

CHOOSE YOUR SADHNA PATH

The purpose of creation is experience, each one of us has taken birth because of desire for a specific experience. Depending on that desire, guru carves out the path of sadhna for you and gives you the mantra to invoke the shakti or dev which is responsible for it. Sadhaks may be put into three broad categories—Brahma sadhaks, Vishnu sadhaks and Shiv sadhaks. It is the path they walk that differentiates one sadhak from the other, and no path is higher or lower than the other. The path of Brahm is that of aiding Lord Brahma in the process of creation. That of Vishnu sadhaks is to assist Lord Vishnu in the preservation and maintenance of creation. And, the Shiv sadhaks tread the path of Lord Shiv, the journey back." Yogi Ashwini Lord Brahma gave birth to physical creation. The task of ensuring its smooth functioning was entrusted upon Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiv paved the path of the journey back. The purpose of creation is experience, each one of us has taken birth because of de...

Fight Off Distraction

Yogi Ashwini's article in New Indian Express on August 29, 2015 http://www.newindianexpress.com/lifestyle/spirituality/Fight-off-Distraction/2015/08/29/article2996967.ece As you progress on the path of yoga, in the abode of Shiv, the first encounter is with pret. Prets are among the ganas of Shiv, and by their very nature they try to prevent you from moving further in. They distract you and attempt to put you off the path. Those of you, who are sadhaks, must have heard from people around you that you should not do dhyan. Often there is a hue and cry in the house when a family member wants to go for a dhyan session. The path of yoga or dhyan is the path of few, who want to access the real, that which does not change and that which is eternal. The majority spend their life chasing the unreal—collecting the temporary aspects of physical life. All those who prevent you from walking this path of reality are pret only, after leaving the body, they will be found in pret yoni. ...

Yogi Ashwini on NDTV

Yogi Ashwini  on NDTV 24*7 "The Big Fight".... http://www.ndtv.com/video/player/the-big-fight/godmen-vs-law-the-unholy-mess/345781 After a long violent stand-off between his supporters and the Haryana police, controversial guru Rampal was arrested on Wednesday night. He had ignored more than 40 orders from a court. But his lawyer claims that Rampal was held captive by anti-social elements and hence he is not to be blamed for the mayhem happening in and around his ashram. Was Rampal really held captive by his own men? What about those who indulged in violence? Was the state government at fault? This incident also makes us look at the bigger picture of whether there is a nexus between some politicians and 'Godmen'. Are there a few sinners among saints? The inner festival of lights

Starting from the 13th day of krishna paksh of Kartik until the second day of shukla paksh of Ashvin, marks an extremely powerful time in the Vedic calendar. The energy of various nakshatras is focused on earth. On the amavasya of Kartik, the night of Diwali, the energy patterns are especially conducive to the manifestation of gods in general and Mahalakshmi specifically. Creation stays in balance because the various heavenly bodies are constantly engaged in the task of maintaining it. The congregation of various forces determines the energy patterns of a particular day; our patterns combined with that of the day determine the course of events in our life. Like the various heavenly bodies, each one of us is a ‘poorna ansh’—a complete part—of creation and has been assigned a specific task. There is a purpose to our birth—a specific experience based upon the soul’s desire. Various energies help us realise this purpose to realise the balance of the world. On certain days it is extreme...

The Festival of Lights

The essence of Diwali lies in the verse, ‘tamso ma jyotir gamaya’, that is, ‘take me from darkness to light’, light here referring to the light of internal knowledge —the glow of which attracts the Devi (Lakshmi) home. The energy of various nakshatras is focussed on earth on the night of Diwali making it conducive for the manifestation of gods in general, and Goddess Lakshmi in particular. It is a night to request the Goddess to give us wealth but also to treat it with detachment because it is physical and temporary. Sanatan Kriya details the shodakshri mantra, ‘ka ee ai la hreem ha sa ka ha la hreem sa ka la hreem’, which when channelised by one’s Guru and chanted in front of the Devi, bestows one with physical wealth as well as gives the route to exit maya. If one looks at one’s own life one will realise that there is pain in every aspect of pleasure — the pain of losing that pleasure. This is a trait of Lakshmi (maya), yet we run after that which is temporary and is sure to leave ...

The guru is the only fountain of gyan

To take you deeper into the subject of yog, let me begin with an example. A small boy likes to play with guns and he says that he wants to become a dacoit when he grows up. No matter how much you convince him, he will tell people this. Or he will say he wants to be a truck driver, who drives at top speed. If you tell him sternly that he should say he wants to become a doctor, he will repeat it to people. Intellectually he understands that his father thinks that a doctor is better than a truck driver, but deep inside he thinks being a dacoit or a truck driver is more fun. When this child grows up, he doesn’t want to be a dacoit anymore. He finds an ideal in the environment around him, and wishes to be like that. It is the first gyan. When he grows more and decides more, he wants to be an IAS officer or a hot-shot executive; more gyan. There is no synonym for the word gyan in English or any other language. It is not the intellectual knowledge you gain from books, which have sev...

Attract a guru, not a Ravana in your life

Life is born out of ‘desire’ and we remain prisoners of this desire over countless lifetimes. During these births, the soul remains oblivious of the purpose of life and gets more and more entangled in  various attractions of the physical world — in relationships, career, properties and places, occupations and hobbies. He is totally immersed in the web and glue of maya, bound to the senses and their objects. What, then, is the purpose of life? It appears to be in experiencing desires which brought you here. And desires are unending. They start with the cycle of karma — one leads to the next and it becomes a successive movement, one that continues forever, until the soul decides this quest is over and finally decides to get back home. But until you return all you took from Creation, you will keep coming back. You have to pay back every karma you play out in your life.  It might be okay to experience and enjoy pleasures, but it is also important to remember the purpose of...

Collecting coins in the game of life

Go back by 20 years and the video games available were Mario, bricks et al. Later, the games were upgraded and they became more interactive. Then there came games like Prince of Persia where human involvement increased; though both Mario and Prince of Persia were played using the same four buttons. Mario had only 8-10 stages; there were far more exciting levels. Next came motion sensors; today we have 3D games. You get into the game and feel that you are in real life. There may come a time when you will be able to put your consciousness into the character and be able to live in a virtual environment where you will feel pleasure-pain, death and birth. The knob and buttons being your five senses. In Mario, the player would collect gold coins; in this virtual game too, you will be busy collecting gold coins—better looks, bigger house, fancier car or a prettier girlfriend. You forget how many hours have passed. Then suddenly, the power goes off. You cannot retrieve the coins collecte...

The Magnetism of the enlightened

Successful people usually possess a certain glow and magnetism that sets them apart from the crowd; every cell in their body radiates a specific frequency of energy. An evolved person exhibits a higher spectrum of invisible colours which are visible to a yogic practitioner—this is called the aura. A normal being just feels attracted and wants to be with such a person without knowing why. To a clairvoyant, it is evident as a specific shade to the aura, and its magnetism depends on the person. This is called the Brahma Tej. One possessing this can attain anything that he desires; but it is up to him whether he uses it to accomplish physical feats or to break away and go beyond into the higher dimensions. The reason why certain people have this glow while the others don’t is because the former have accumulated a lot of karmic strength over previous births through austere practices and following principles of Ashtang Yog. This manifests as sukra (luminous clearness) in the body, wh...

Only Yoga has the ability to rid you of your woes

There are people who, even after years of interacting with me and getting their experiences, ask me if I could teach them a new practice, a new mantra, a little more gyan or about Ashtang Yog. I wonder, what more can I teach them? Rather, what is there to teach? You are at point A, you have to go to point B, and the path from A to B was clearly laid down by Rishi Patanjali thousands of years ago. All that is needed is for you to walk that path… yama, niyama, asan, pranayam, pratyahaar, dharna, dhyan, samadhi… and you will our destination. Yoga does not call for standing on your head or breathing abnormally; neither does it involve complicated diets and rituals—it is simply integrating the principles of Ashtang Yog in your everyday life. Let us look at just the five yamas and niyamas: satya—to always speak the truth; asteya—not to steal; aparigraha—not to collect; ahimsa—non-violence; brahmacharya—celibacy; swacchh—cleanliness and personal hygiene; santosh—satisfaction with what you...

The futily of Vidya bought from spiritual quacks

Recently I got an email from someone seeking a meditation technique to help his situation. The gentleman had apparently learnt the sri vidya and some other vidyas (names of which, even I don’t know) from an avadhoot baba who conducts shivirs across the globe. I told him that he knew so much, he should be the one giving me lessons in yog; so how could I possibly help him? His reply was, ‘that is what the problem is. I have learnt the vidyas, but I do not know what to do now, how to prove myself…’ This gentleman is not an isolated case. There are so many across the world who are caught up in the buying and selling of myriad vidyas and kriyas in the hope of gaining name, fame, money, power, success or for the solution to a physical problem. There exists no kriya, vidya or upay  to solve your life’s problems. The only method lies in improving one’s karma. The law of karma states that whatever you give, comes back to you manifold. If you want to grow financially, start feeding th...

In the game of life all points collected are Maya

All of you must have played the game of Mario at some point in life. In Mario, the player  collects the coins, kills the dragon and rescues his girlfriend; every time he collects a hundred coins, he gets a new life and the game goes on. As you play this game, you get thrilled when you collect a coin, or reach a higher level—you stay glued to the screen, oblivious to what is happening around you. Pause for a moment to think—have the coins that you collect helped any of you buy a real car or a good meal? As soon as you switch off the power, the coins disappear, so does the girlfriend. You think you passed the time, but in reality, time passed you. After two hours of play, you are still at the same level, maybe a little lower than what you were, because virtual stimulation dulls your reflexes, your eyes sting and even you don’t know what all junk you had stuffed into your stomach when you were engrossed in the play. The game of Mario was unreal, and the state it left you in, is y...
