“A straight back is vital for a healthy life,” our Vedic  rishis  believed in this maxim thousands of years ago. But why is the back so important? Spinal column is often referred to as the second brain of our body. If you look at our energy body you will find many channels,  nadis  (much like arteries) running all across it. They carry vital  prana  (life force) necessary for the proper functioning of the body. One of the main  nadis  is the  sushumna nadi  whose reflection is the spine. Any kink in this  nadi , that is, a curve in the spine, will cause stagnation of prana. This leads to imbalance and disease. Bear in mind that a weak back leads to several diseases that will keep you running to the doctor. A curved spine also causes the body to age, while one that is straight does just the opposite.
