Yoga - An experience to be experienced

"Majority of the population understands yoga as twisting oneself into knots or breathing abnormally, erroneously termed as asanas and pranayamas. If you switch on the television, there will be enough people calling themselves yoga gurus, in beautiful flowing beards and wearing fancy robes, jumping around trees, breathing like animals, calling it yoga and claiming to rid you of all your life proble ms, of course, at a price. And if you look around, there are countless people who go to these people and empty out their pockets hoping to get a solution. I get mails from all over the world. One gentleman for instance wrote to me asking about shri vidya. He said he had learnt it from a person who calls himself an avdhoot and holds shivirs all over the world. This gentleman was hoping to improve his business, he was assured that this vidya would help him grow; of course, he was charged a handsome fee. Two months into the practice his business crashed, his family b...

The Secret of Om

http://indiaempire.com/article/436/the_secret_of_om THE SECRET OF OM By  Yogi Ashwini As creation began, time was created first and rest everything came after that. Whenever anything starts, first of all its time is determined. Think about it, all the pleasures that you take through the day - relationships, property, business, money - is there anything that is beyond time? There is only one thing that is not tied to time - reality. What is real, is not bound by time. So first, time was created. Next, came the primordial sound of ‘om’. Is om then bound by time? Om is both, tied and free from time. How? When om is chanted, it can be a short ‘om’ or a continuous ‘ooooooooom’. The om is tied to time but oooooom has no beginning or end, it is the brahmnaad, a continuous loop of countless short oms. It is the separated smaller oms that manifest as various aspects of creation. So first came time, next came om and from it emerged prakriti and purush, the two aspect...

Ashtang Yoga

Sanatan Kriya , as formulated by  Yogi Ashwini , encapsulates in its entirety, all the eight limbs of  Ashtang Yoga  as prescribed by the  Patanjali Yoga Sutras  about 5000 years ago. The eight limbs of Ashtang Yoga are -  Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayam, Pratyahar, Dhyan, Dharna, Samadhi.  By following the practice of the five  Yamas  and five  Niyams , the path of Yoga becomes clear. The impediments in the progress of the practitioner or  sadhak  get removed leading the  sadhak  to the next stage, which involves the purification of the physical and the etherical self of the individual. Asana  is a posture, which is attained with the objective of gaining mastery of the physical body. The practitioner or more appropriately the  sadhak  practices the posture with complete awareness of the physical and internalization of senses till the posture becomes effortless or in other words till the physical...

Hatha Yoga

A practitioner of  Hatha Yoga  goes through three phases of practice.  Sanatan Kriya  details them as, The First or the Beginner's Stage : This state assumes that the practitioner is a normal human being, who is attracted to the various aspects of the physical world, he wants to enjoy everything to the hilt, he wants to miss nothing, he wants to live life, which he thinks is life, to the fullest. Yoga says why not? Go ahead, enjoy and go beyond, do not suppress your desires, go and sail in the ocean of life, but do not sink in it. Be like the boat which is in the water but the water is not in it, it sails through the ocean and misses no part of the ocean and yet completes its journey, experiencing the ocean in totality. The beginners stage of Yoga deals with very simple  asanas  and  pranayams , preparing you for the journey ahead; your vehicle, that is your body, is taken through etheric and physical purifications with the aid of  ...

Yoga

What is Yoga? Yoga , simply put, is union in, and union with, all spheres of life. One does not have to renounce this world and go to the mountains. A practitioner of Yoga can lead the life of a householder, executing all his or her responsibilities towards the family and the society. It is the science of Creation, often called the final frontier, for it opens doorways not just to this world, but also that which lies beyond and controls and directs what happens in the physical dimension. Yoga helps unlock the phenomenal potential that lies hidden in a being. Manifestation of thought, health, beauty, glow, attraction are among the basic  siddhis  of Yoga under the guidance of a Guru.  Beginning of Yoga. The ancient sciences of Yoga date thousands of years back. The originator and the  Adi Guru  of this profound science was Lord Shiva, and Ma Parvati was the first disciple. It is said that when the  shrotras and the  smritis  were being fo...
