The Phenomenal Power of Yoga

When we read the ancient vedic texts like puranas etc, we come across human beings with supernatural abilities, exuding phenomenal strength. We hear of women with amazing beauty and radiance, which used to even attract gods. When we compare these beings with today’s people, they seem like unbelievable stories and myths. Hence, the term mythology… I really don’t blame the people for calling all this mythology, as it is not possible for a normal mind that exists in the present day and age to believe such facts to be true. If we logically think and observe our grandfathers, we would notice that their bodies were stronger and much healthier than ours. Our grandmothers had beautiful skins even till the late years, that too without recourse to artificial aids and beauty treatments. Modern science now tells us that the human brain and bodies have shrunk over time. So if we just project ourselves backwards, we would observe that the mythologies were realities and if we project oursel...

Beware of bad influences

As yugas devolve, the effect of the negative forces increases in the environment. As pollution increases, so does the population of the negative entities. At the time of Satyug, positive forces were at their peak. In Treta, the negative began increasing their influence. In Dwapar, negative increased and began to take control of the yug. In Kaliyug, that is now, the negative controls and the positive forces are minimal. Dharma has been forgotten and a unique trait is that the guru has become a businessman. Only those who will stick to the principles of the Vedas will be able to get release, rest all would be born as insects or plants in the next Mahayug. Yogi Ashwini In the present yug, negative entities in the form of bhoot, preta and pisach are in majority. These entities were once humans, corrupt humans, living on evil, now continuing the same. Maximum people in this yug, when they leave their bodies due to the lack of good karma, do not get another body and there is a wait...

THE CYCLE OF CREATION

Creation is an unending cycle. It has no beginning or end. It’s a continuous process which is divided into mahayugs, which are further subdivided into yugs — Sat, Treta, Dwapar and Kali. Each yug has its traits by which it is defined and a specific level of existence, which it holds in its folds. The beings that inhabit each yug vibrate at a specific pranic frequency. This frequency determines their qualities, nature and forms. Satyug is the time when dharma is at its peak. As a result, environment is healthy, natural resources abound, there is little corruption and treachery. The frequencies are extremely subtle. The time is conducive to subtlest frequencies manifesting in physical body. Health and lifespan of men is at its peak. The exit route for Satyug is direct gyan in the sanidhya of guru . Treta yug is marked by dharma losing its one leg. The environment deteriorates and crimes increase. The frequencies are less subtle as are men and their bodies. In this yug, it is not...

Saffron Under Siege

As early as the Treta Yug, asurs have tried to disrupt creation. Disruption of creation is inevitable. Mahapralay is a natural follow-through of creation and asurs have an important role to play in it. Without the asurs, mahapralay cannot happen, and a new beginning cannot be made. Everything in creation is cyclical, nothing is linear. There is childbirth, death and rebirth. The sun rises and sets to rise again. A seed gives rise to a tree, which produces more seeds for more trees. Moon follows a cycle, as does water. The cyclical pattern is seen in human evolution, too. Lighter thoughts, thoughts for creation and selfless actions make one rise, and heavier thoughts, asuric disposition put one on the descending cycle. There is a limit to how much you can rise or fall, and that depends on the influence asurs and devas have in your life. Ravan, for instance, ascended to be one of the greatest pandits of all times who extemporaneously created the Shiv Tandav Stotram, to perfect w...

Small Change to Big

The Bhagvad Gita clearly states that a society functions by following the footsteps of the prominent people—the Adarsh Purushs. There was a time when a yug was called Satyug, or the era of truthfulness. During that time, the Guru and the Ruler were the Adarsh Purushs; the ruler was guided by the Guru while the Guru was not tied to maya or personal gains, and lived for the betterment of society. Evolution of the being was the prime goal. The ruler on the instruction of the Guru worked for the people and left everything to join the Guru in the ashram. When the time for vanaprastha came, the kingdom was given to the heirs and the real journey towards reality would begin under the Guru’s guidance. The resources of the places of worship and the royal treasury were dedicated to supporting the needy. Holding the Guru’s hand, the shishya undertook the journey from the darkness of ignorance to light of gyan —“Tamso maa jyotir gamaya”. This social model was perfect and flawless. Its remnan...
