Yogi Ashwini, guiding light of Dhyan Foundation

THE CYCLE OF CREATION

Creation is an unending cycle. It has no beginning or end. It’s a continuous process which is divided into mahayugs, which are further subdivided into yugs — Sat, Treta, Dwapar and Kali. Each yug has its traits by which it is defined and a specific level of existence, which it holds in its folds. The beings that inhabit each yug vibrate at a specific pranic frequency. This frequency determines their qualities, nature and forms. Satyug is the time when dharma is at its peak. As a result, environment is healthy, natural resources abound, there is little corruption and treachery. The frequencies are extremely subtle. The time is conducive to subtlest frequencies manifesting in physical body. Health and lifespan of men is at its peak. The exit route for Satyug is direct gyan in the sanidhya of guru . Treta yug is marked by dharma losing its one leg. The environment deteriorates and crimes increase. The frequencies are less subtle as are men and their bodies. In this yug, it is not...

SPIRITUAL EQUATION

When we talk of meditation, we are actually talking about hypnosis; the two words are synonyms, for those who understand both. It is dhyan which actually I am referring to. The present day human being is a devolved version of the beings of the vedic period, where dharma was foremost - even before self and therefore the pollution levels of air, water and soil were negligible. It is only when the human being began retracting his vision towards his individual self and finally, in today's yug, not looking beyond oneself, the environment responded and a plethora of diseases and problems of all kinds - mental, emotional and physical took gigantic and multi-faceted forms. The human race today is on the verge of extinction only due to its myopic vision of creation, limiting to oneself only - the self-destructing philosophy of I, me and myself...all this leading is to a low level of consciousness and vice versa, a vicious circle. The practice of dhyan is a clear exit route fro...

Only Yoga has the ability to rid you of your woes

There are people who, even after years of interacting with me and getting their experiences, ask me if I could teach them a new practice, a new mantra, a little more gyan or about Ashtang Yog. I wonder, what more can I teach them? Rather, what is there to teach? You are at point A, you have to go to point B, and the path from A to B was clearly laid down by Rishi Patanjali thousands of years ago. All that is needed is for you to walk that path… yama, niyama, asan, pranayam, pratyahaar, dharna, dhyan, samadhi… and you will our destination. Yoga does not call for standing on your head or breathing abnormally; neither does it involve complicated diets and rituals—it is simply integrating the principles of Ashtang Yog in your everyday life. Let us look at just the five yamas and niyamas: satya—to always speak the truth; asteya—not to steal; aparigraha—not to collect; ahimsa—non-violence; brahmacharya—celibacy; swacchh—cleanliness and personal hygiene; santosh—satisfaction with what you...
