Why is faulty pronunciation of mantras dangerous for you?

The word Shiv consists of 'shav', which is a dead body and 'i', which is Shakti – the force which runs creation. This force needs a vehicle or a body to manifest into, so shav becomes Shiv and a child is born. The night of Shivratri has the power to give birth to your thoughts. It is a night of birth, a night of merger; a night of creation, a night of manifestation and a night of thought fulfilment and the one who can give you this experience of Shiv is your Guru. Being born in the land of Bharat, I have grown up hearing stories of Shiv and Shakti; I was told that Shivratri is a night of marriage of Shiv to Shakti, an auspicious and potent night. I would see elders in the family keeping a fast, making offerings, singing prayers to Shivji…for me Shivratri meant a holiday from school. I could not see the sense in celebrating an event that occurred centuries and maybe millennia ago. For me, Shiv and Shakti were protagonists of a puranic story, I was ob...

Let's demystify the myth of energy called Hanuman

Creation exists in layers, some perceivable by our five senses, for some higher senses are required. Yet all the layers exist and the subtler or higher layers control the layers below, the creation as it appears to an ordinary person being the grossest layer, which is controlled by the subtler layers, the layer of energy, the world of ether. Every entity on earth is a reflection of energy, is influenced by and influences the world of energy and hence, has an effect on every aspect of creation – be it a dog, a monkey, a cow, a tree, stone or a human being. The realm of energy manifests itself first in the form of a thought, then sound, then colour, and finally the five elements that constitute the bodies of the trees, animals, humans, stones, alike. The sciences of premonition, clairaudience, clairvoyance , healing , etc stem from here. Sanatan Kriya brings the various layers of a being and as a result certain higher centres open up, allowing a practitioner to perceive the vari...

OM: The Sound of Creation

Ever thought about it…What was there when there was no Creation? Imagine a time when there was no time. Time too was created. After time came OM in the form of Dhwani, sound. Creation began with the sound of Om. From Om emerged all sounds, which further manifested into the dimension of colours and the five elements. The reverse process—from elements to colours to sounds to the eternal Om, opens doorways to the shaktis of Creation. The closer a shakti is to Creation, the closer is its sound to the eternal Om.  A Western University recorded the sound of the SUN and found it to be a continuous loop of unending Oms. “And Sun powers all life on earth. Also, Sun has no religion.” Manifestation of OM  in a vedic havan performed by Dhyan Foundation volunteers  Now to get an experience of OM you can... Look up the night sky, fix your gaze at any one point and without shifting your gaze start rotating from right to left. After a while stop, close your ey...

Sounds of the Soul

Everything in creation is a dhwani (sound), it is a frequency, a vibration. All our desires too are dhwanis of varying frequencies. Our shastras detail the science of mantras, dhwanis and frequencies through which you can change your desires, your body as well as environment. Om is an extremely subtle dhwani, also called pranav. When Om is chanted, the body vibrates from top to bottom. When you practice the various sadhnas under a guru, the effect is immediate, tangible and physical. The various sadhnas have the ability to manifest (vyakt) the unmanifest (avyakt). If you come to Dhyan Ashram, I will take you through the experience of this dhwani and the vibrations it creates within you. But to hold the subtler frequencies, it is important to increase the capacity of the body through practices detailed in Ashtang Yoga and Sanatan Kriya. Then you will come from avidya (unreality) to vidya (reality)—Om asato ma sadgamaya, tamso jyotir gamayo, mrityur ma amritam ga...

The Sound of Silence

Yogi Ashwini 's article in  The Navhind Times BUZZ Section  today... "When creation began there was silence. Thereafter manifested sound and from that sound emerged all things physical. The sound was Om, also called the brahmnaad. Recently, researchers at the Sheffield University, UK recorded the sound emitted by the sun. It is the same as the brahmnaad described by our Vedic seers. Every sound is an energy unleashed and it holds the power to alter creation around you, including your own body.."

Shivratri

The sun rises every morning and sets every evening; water evaporates and comes back to us as rain. If you look at creation around you, everything to do with it is a cycle. Nothing is permanent and there is no such thing as destruction. Einstein retold us what the Vedas have been saying for thousands of years — that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it only changes form. Just because the day is over and the sun has set does not mean that the day will not come again. The darkest of nights leads to the brightest of days. Creation consists of opposites, to make a whole. When these opposites diverge it is called destruction and when they converge it is called birth.  The night of Shivratri is a night of birth. It is a night of merger, a night of creation, a night of manifestation and a night of thought fulfillment. The word shiva consists of shav, which is a dead body and i, which is shakti — the force which runs creation. This force needs a vehicle or a body to manife...

The Science of Colours

The physical body consists of five elements in various permutations and combinations. Sanatan Kriya says they are controlled by the dimension of colour. Everything in creation has a colour to it. Everything looks the way it does because it is in a state of balance, as it is vibrating at a specific frequency. Sanatan Kriya further details that if there is an imbalance in any of these colours or energy, the manifestation happens in colours, it further effects the object, which maybe the physical body that we are talking about in this case. That distortion is called a disease, also called imbalance in Ayurveda. To correct that imbalance, there are various powerful techniques given in Sanatan Kriya under the topic of self-healing. For example, if you have an upset stomach, the primary constituting colours of stomach are green and light saffron. By introducing the right shade of these colours into the stomach in the prescribed quantities, the stomach will automatically resume its normal ...

Quiet, Please...

When Creation happened, there was silence. Thereafter, sound got manifested, and from that sound, emerged all things physical. The sound was "AUM", also called the Brahmnaad. Recently, researchers at Sheffield University, UK, recorded the sound emitted by the Sun , and it was found to be the same as the brahmnaad described by Vedic seers. Every sound is energy unleashed and it contains the power to alter creation around you, including your own body. There are certain sounds that you can hear and certain others that are outside your audible range. Among the sounds that you can hear, some please you and some leave you disturbed. Nonetheless, all these sounds have a specific effect on your being; some of these effects you can perceive immediately, while others become evident later, depending upon the frequency of sound and the frequency at which you exist. Similarly, the same sound can generate different effects on different people, again depending upon their individual fr...

Sound and Mantras

Sound or ‘ dhwani ’ is said to have originated from the ‘damru’ of Lord Shiva. It is said that every perceivable and unperceivable object in the Universe has a corresponding sound. Sound, the first perceivable dimension of the physical creation originates from a layer so subtle that a normal human mind would not be able to comprehend that force. Prana is the force that pervades the Universe. Manifested in different forms it makes itself perceivable. ‘Mata Adi Shakti’ manifested as the Trinity for the purpose of physical creation. The first physical manifestation after the Trinity was in the form of sound. ‘Om’ (Aum) was the first sound and it came out of the damru of Lord Shiva. Divided into four parts (a-u-m and silence) it represents the journey of the spirit. Before sound, i.e. Creation, there was eternal sil...

Celestial sound that perfects all

Sound or dhwani  is said to have originated from the damru of Lord Shiva. Mata Adi Shakti manifested itself as the Trinity for the purpose of physical creation. The first corporeal manifestation on earth after the Trinity’ birth was in the form of sound. Om (Aum) was the first sound. It arose from the damru of Lord Shiva. Before sound (creation), there was eternal silence and absolute stillness. It was from here that the journey of an individual began. Therefore, sound can be termed as the first dimension perceived in physical creation. From sound emerges the dimension of colours; from colours emerges everything that we see in the physical creation, including our physical body. Sound has a deep and profound effect on our being. Whether we are able to immediately feel the effect or not depends on the kind of sound one interacts with. The roaring of a lion creates an environment of dread all around, whereas the call of a cuckoo or the song of a nightingale soothes...
