What creates dilution in sadhna?

The Devs and Danavs are real and can be accessed through this body by doing sadhna under sanidhya of a Guru. A clear indication of whether you are moving deeper into the science or into dilutions is your experience.   Every moment in the life of a sadhak is a havan, an ahuti (sacrifice) made to the Devs — be it the act of eating food, sexual gratification, travel and leisure or even sadhna… even a sadhna has to be sacrificed after a stage. All these aspects are aspects of the physical — that which is temporary and unreal — it does not exist. The moment a sadhak associates himself with a physical aspect and tries to hold on to it, it is called a dilution in yog. On the other hand, if the sadhak makes an offering to the Devs with every physical aspect, it paves the way to evolution. The Devs and Danavs are real and can be accessed through this body by doing sadhna under sanidhya of a Guru. The subtler the energy, the more purity is called for in the sadhna to attain i...

Yog is the road to pure bliss

Fulfilment of desires is not evolution. It is sadhana which involves changes within and leads to ultimate freedom. Ayurveda says that the body is composed of three doshas—Vat, Pitt and Kapha. The term ‘dosha’ translates as a defect or an impurity. That is, the body is inherently impure. There is no such thing as negative or positive because everything around that is physical, is bound by time. It is bound to end, and the time for it to end is decided the moment you get it, irrespective of whether that thing is good or bad.  The biggest pain is not in losing something but in getting something which is dear to you. The dearer a thing is to you, the more expensive it proves to be, as that much more pain it will cause to you when it leaves you. The day you get something, that day itself the pain that comes with it is also decided. Similarly the day you take the body, the doshas that come along with it are also determined because the meaning of the body is that which is...

Yog is a beautiful journey, but you are the one who needs to make it

Yog begins at the feet of the guru. Guru carves out a path and to get that experience, you need to walk it. Roaming around the guru, showering him/her with compliments or trying to impress him/her with your power, looks or wealth is redundant. For if the guru has the state of these things (physical creation), how will he/she take you beyond? And if he/she has traversed the journey of yog, then to reach him/her, you have to walk that path. Only then will you have the darshan of his/her swaroop. Whether your vehicle is a broken Fiat or a Phantom or a jet-plane (the vehicle here indicates your body), if you keep admiring it in the mirror, you will stay where you are. The mirror does not traverse, nor will the body. Even a broken Fiat can reach, if it walks the path of guru. Otherwise, you can keep polishing the car, change its upholstery and tyres, put various kinds of fuel, nothing will happen. One day the car (body) will fade away, as will the mirror. Slowly the car will ...

Manifest the unmanifest

Shiva is often described as adi, unborn; anant, endless; akhand, indivisible; nirakaar, formless. Yet, shivling has a form. Why is that? Shiva is beyond birth and yet He has a form. And this form was brought into creation by Adi Shakti. Adi Shakti manifested itself and then created gravity around it through a whirling motion, through rotation, or ‘pradikshina’. Rotation is the basis of gravity, of magnetism, of the energy of prana that is in every microcosm of Creation. When something rotates, it creates a pull or magnetism around it. When you do pradikshina of a Shakti, you are able to relate to it very easily. This practice is used in advanced sadhnas of Sanatan Kriya. When Adi Shakti created the force, yoni manifested. And shivling manifested in that yoni. A shivling encompasses the entire brahmand (creation). When you do sadhana on the shivling, then the entire creation unfolds in front of you, and you are able to access any energy therein. A specific kriya in Sanatan...

REAL AND UNREAL SADHANA

Sadhana is a private affair between you and your Guru. No one can interfere in this relationship. There are two kinds of sadhana. The first is performed for show and emotional satisfaction. Here you are taken to beautiful places, you meet nice people who shower praises upon you, you are repeatedly told how good you are and, a fee is charged to pay for the services you are getting. The other kind of sadhana is where you have complete desire to achieve in the spiritual world. You are told of your shortcomings. What you pay here is your dedication and sacrifice of physical things. In the former, you have teachers and masters. In the latter, you have a Guru . The former takes you in circles and the latter evolves you out of the human body. In the former, you sing and dance and enjoy the beauty of the world. The praises that are showered upon you are directly proportional to your position in the society. In the latter, you are ...

BHAKTI YOG

Yog is a rigorous sadhna – it is a constant practice, nirantar abhyas, and if your sankalp breaks, that is, there is a break in your practice, you have to start all over again. There are many things that one needs to be careful of – the ego needs to be kept in check, detachment has to be maintained from the physical attractions, one-pointed focus on ek tattva, stillness of thoughts, etc. The various kinds of yog cater to different kinds of people with different kinds of desires. A beginner comes with lots of desires, and for him there is Gyan Yog. Other forms of yog like Hath Yog and practices like Sanatan Kriya are for those who can make a Guru and also have desires. Within the various forms of yog, the most difficult is Bhakti Yog. There is no yog above Bhakti Yog because it is nishkam and poorna, and this is the yog for adept. There was only one Meera, who was completely immersed in the bhakti of her Guru, her isht, Krishna. In Bhakti Yog, there is complete surrender to th...

Body sculpting Asans (Part - 1)

People who do over-exercising and excessive gymming do tend to look slim but symptoms of ageing set in very fast in them – wrinkles, grey hair, loss of glow…as every action has an equal and opposite reaction. The faster you breathe and the more you exert yourself, more is the energy produced and equal and opposite reaction is premature ageing symptoms. You would have heard of people dying of sudden heart attacks or cancer in early years. This is an equal and opposite reaction of over straining the body. Sanatan Kriya brings the various layers of body in a state of balance, optimising the metabolic rate and enhancing longevity. Regular practice elevates consciousness and it is through the heightened state of consciousness that changes are affected in the body and environment. There are live examples of practitioners at Dhyan Ashram, who have used this power of consciousness to get the body they desired, to improve relationships and finances at an elementary level and combined with...

Significance of Navratras

Navratras come twice a year and mark transition in seasons, winter-summer and summer-winter. According to ayurveda, during this time, one should consume nourishing foods and in minimal quantities to rid the body of the toxins collected during the rains. The nine nights and ten days of navratras hold within them the energy of ten forms of shakti– shailaputri, brahmcharini, chandrakanta, kushmanda, skandmata, katyayani, kaalratri, mahagauri, siddhidatri and aparajitha thus each navratra has a specific purpose. In the navratras weather changes, ie, various energies of this creation move from imbalance towards a new normalcy, including our body. In these nine days, the prana shakti inside our body undergoes a process of re-alignment, ie from imbalance to new balance for new season. For this re- aligning the body has to be kept light. Therefore our ancients prescribed fasting or upvaas in these nine days.Upavaas has a much greater connotation than what it is generally misunderstood as -...

Yog is a Sadhna, not a business

MORNING RAGA: YOUR STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO SURYA NAMASKAR

Sun powers all life on earth. And the sun has no religion. Its energy vibrates at innumerable frequencies manifesting in the physical as various food/prana for various living things like trees, leaves, animals, humans, etc. Our sages understood the importance of the phenomenal force of the sun and thus gave us the Surya Namaskar, a salutation to the sun. In Surya Namaskar, one draws prana that is the sun’s energy through the five senses called the paanchindriyas. This is very useful in bringing about balance at the levels of the koshas: Annamaya (physical), Pranamaya (pranic), Manomaya (intellect), Vigyanmaya (intuitive) and Ananadmaya (complete bliss) — of an individual, thereby bringing about the sthirta and strength from the core to the periphery. Surya Namaskar is a complete sadhna, spiritual practice, which comprises 12 asans. Starting with Surya Namaskar, the awareness should always be at the Manipoorak chakra (located at the navel), which is also the chakra of the sun’...
