Dear Animal Lovers, There was a time when India was synonymous to benevolence, where animals, birds, forests and trees were worshipped. Today in the same country India, voiceless creatures are being tortured terribly and destruction of natural resources is rampant. Dhyan Foundation (aided by PFA) held Peaceful Car March on 7 th  April to urge the respective government offices to immediately act and take action against the deplorable conditions of Cows and its progeny.  The two states offices being visited today were Haryana for the Illegal Slaughtering and smuggling of animals (Mewat) and Kollegal Taluk, Karnataka where severe drought and government inaction is leading to hundreds of cows dying because of starvation. The rally which saw scores of people from all walks of life, students, journalists, teachers, lawyers, activists, volunteers, top businessmen rallied the State houses of Haryana & Karnataka. In an attempt to mitigate the acute drought-triggered fodder crisis in Kollegal taluk of Chamrajnagar district, the district administration along with volunteers from non-governmental groups has intensified relief activities by setting up gaushalas and fodder stations in affected settlements. One such gaushala set up by the district administration with the assistance of the department of animal husbandry and veterinary sciences is providing fodder and water to as many as 1,500 cattle in Dantehalli village. This is in addition to fodder stations set up in the nearby Kuratti Hosur panchayat. As of now, six temporary gaushalas and at least 10 fodder stations have reportedly been set up as a temporary relief measure for affected farmers. “We have set up a gaushala in Dantehalli to provide free fodder and water for the cattle of the village. We are also closely monitoring the situation on a daily basis. The additional chief secretary also took stock of the situation on Monday,” ...

With four years of drought on the trot, fodder is hard to come by. Cattle are no longer allowed to forage inside forests after incidents of tree-cutting. Things will only get worse now even though govt says it is setting up gaushalas and providing fodder. Members of animal protection organisation Dhyan Foundation and People For Animals organised a car rally in protest against the increasing animal trafficking from Bihar, West Bengal and Rajasthan.  A car rally was held in the national capital today. Working professionals and school children protested against the atrocities on animals and the illegal animal trade taking place at the Bangladesh border via Bihar and West Bengal. Organized by an animal protection organization Dhyan Foundation along with People For Animals (PFA), the rally saw hoards of people in at least 500 cars decorated with banners and our national flag.
