The Power of Pink

Every relationship is symbiotic as it is based on give and take. You are in it because you are getting something from the other person and vice-versa. No matter how close a person might be to you, the moment you stop giving or the moment this “give and take” comes to an end, the relationship ceases to exist. The only relationship that is an exception to this rule is that of a mother and a child, that too from the mother’s side and not vice-versa. The mother holds unconditional love for her child and nurtures and raises him/her without expecting anything in return. Every religion gives utmost respect to the mother for she is the creator of creation. She is shakti and, therefore, it makes sense to have every day as the day of the mother — the epitome of unconditional love. If you look at the depiction of a mother in any culture or faith, she will be shown to hold the child against her chest, for that is the seat of unconditional love in a human being. The pranic layer of a hu...

Breathe Your Way to a Youthful Glow

With age you always notice a progressive decline in skin texture and complexion. A baby is glowing pink whereas most adults, even in their prime, are plagued with diseased skin and dull complexion. This is because in the process of growing up one is exposed to certain unnatural practices and stimuli from which it was kept protected in the womb. Take for example the simple act of breathing. If you observe your own breathing patterns, most likely, you will find it to be the opposite and with little or no abdominal movement…this breathing pattern of yours, holds the key to the way you look and your present state of health. Abdominal breathing maximizes the up and down movement of the diaphragm and ensures that lungs function at their optimal level, that is, they throw out spent air completely and also adequately replenish the body wi...

The Miraculous Effect of Colours

Physical creation, as we know, is a manifestation of prana in the form the five elements perceived through smell, taste, colour, touch and sound. In this series of articles we will delve into creation through the prana of colours, as experienced by the sense of sight, both physical and yogic (referred to as clairvoyance). In the shade card of a painter, you will see millions of hues and their shades and tints. Creation is no different. It is a palette of precise combinations of certain colours, their specific shades corresponding to specific shaktis that have specific roles to play. If you observe the sun, you will notice that it keeps changing colors through the day—gold, saffron, pink, orange, red, yellow, with each particular colour being visible only for a limited time span, as per the needs of creation. That is why the sun is called the source of all shakti (energy on this planet). As one progresses in yog, he or she is made to experience other colours and shaktis and also ...
