Activating Your Chakras for a Healthy You – Manipoorak Chakra

Asans are not exercises. They are the gradual process of evolution in the body effectuated under sanidhya of a Guru. They are to be performed gently and with internal awareness. A mantra is codified form of energy in the form of sound and must be channelized by the siddha of the mantra for expanding consciousness. It is through consciousness and heightened awareness achieved through asans and mantras that the body becomes healthy. When the body is healthy, one gets an experience of the subtler world and is in bliss all the time. Dhanur Asan In this series, we have been discussing the asans and beej mantras for the various chakras and how one can activate them and strengthen the corresponding body parts. Last time we discussed the swadhishthan chakra that is present two inches above the mooladhar. Now we move to the Manipoorak chakra.  Manipoorak (Navel Chakra): Located at the point of navel, it controls at the physical level the small and large intestine, liver, ...

Activating your chakras for a healthy you – Mooladhar Chakra

There is more to us than what meets the eye, the physical body is only an aspect of our existence which is directly controlled by the etheric layer, some called it the aura, vedic rishis called it the Pranamaya kosha. Chakra Beej kriya, the preliminary practices of which were introduced in the previous article taps into this layer by means of sounds and asans to stimulate the chakras. There are six major chakras in the body, each responsible for specific functions, needs and desires. As we progress in the Chakra Beej asans, we move from the grosser to the subtler chakras, understanding and balancing them as we move along. Having performed the basic joint rotations and spine asanas in the earlier articles , we move to the kriya for the Mooladhar chakra. Corresponding to the location of base of the spine, it is at this chakra that the phenomenal power of kundalini energy rests. Mooladhar is the base chakra for humans; it is the highest in animals. It controls the survival...

Mystic Mantra: Aura and relationships

Energy follows thoughts, so if energies are conducive, there is no friction. If two people start doing sanatan kriya together, the chances of conduciveness of auras go up manifold, and friction fades away and colours begin to match because thoughts would now be similar. Aura makes the human being. The reflection of that is you. An interesting aspect of aura is the concept of relationships. Why two people are together most of the times? Why do they share such good vibrations? Or, why people are averse to each other? The answers lie in the aura. Aura tells the traits of a person and also his lifespan. The aura of a human being consists of some basic colours like lighter shades of red, green, orange and violet. Very few among us have stronger colours like golden, white, light violets and electric violets. When two people meet, the connection starts with eyes — when they look at each other, but manifests at the level of surya chakra, the emotional centre situated at the...

How can a human mind can perceive aura with higher senses

Have you ever wondered why two people look so different? Why is someone born in a rich family and the other in a poor? Or, why some people have an attraction that draws you towards them? If you have, then pause and be aware of the Sun. All the planets revolve around the Sun, its magnetism holds them in their orbit. Something similar happens when you come across a person with magnetism. It is that attraction which the Sun has, a small fraction of it lies in that person. In the physical world, this magnetism translates as the ‘aura’. Countless books have been written on the topic, many stories revolve around it and there was also a camera that claimed to capture it. But what is the aura? Have you seen it? Somebody else writing about it and you reading it cannot make the aura exist for you. For you to believe in the aura, it has to be your personal experience. Remember the Mahabharata at this time, Arjuna also wanted tangible proof and he wanted it from the lord himself. Only ...

The Purpose of Yoga Is To Open Bondages

Patanjali Yogsutras were given 4500 years ago, they do not give a description of any asana . There is only one line –  sthir sukham asanam . That is a posture in which you are still and at peace. So any posture that can be maintained for long hours without movement or discomfort is an asana .  Sage Patanjali is called as the fountainhead of yoga . The purpose of asana is cleansing the body – nadis (etheric channels) and chakras (energy centres). 4500 years ago, there was no requirement for this cleansing, the thought, actions and environment were relatively pure and conducive to the practice of yoga. Therefore, no mention of asanas in Patanjali Ashtanga Yoga. With the passage of time, the bodies and minds started becoming polluted as did the environment, therefore various forms of yoga came in and around 500 years back, Hatha Yoga was formulated by yogis like Matsyendranath and Gorakhanath which describes certain physical postures to cleanse the nadis and chak...

Dhyana blocks mentations

There is a lady who has been doing dhyana for quite some time. Everyday without fail she would write to me seeking my blessings, so that she can move ahead in dhyana. Recently, I got a mail from her asking if I could help her find a camera that got lost recently. Such emails, especially from those who have been long practicing, set me thinking. Why do people do dhyana ? Most of the people who come to me either want to pass an exam, some of them desire a better job or relationship and the rest have a heart trouble or a factory that is about to shut. I know this because I keep getting your emails and as I read them, I wonder if I am really a Yoga Guru or a consultant to whom people come for solutions to their various problems. It is foolish to think that dhyana would make you immortal or help you recover a business loss or make your ailing heart hale and ...

Yoga for Kidney Stones (Part 2)

Our physical body is only one-fifth of us, there are four more layers to us. And it is these layers that control what happens in the physical body composed of elements. The science of yog and Sanatan Kriya taps into the power of a being in totality, touching upon all the layers. For the purpose of this article, we will discuss the layer next to the physical body, the pranmaya kosha, which is often called as the aura. This layer consists of millions of chakras and nadis which regulate and channelise the flow of prana in the body and in turn are responsible of proper functioning of various organs of the body. In the previous article, we started to discuss the problem of kidney stones. In the realm of energy or prana, kidneys are controlled by the swadishthan and mool chakra. Detailed below are certain asanas which work to rectify imbalances in the two chakras and are helpful in eliminating kidney stones. It is recommended that you visit your neare...

Mystic Mantra: Achieving dhyan through karma

There is a lady who has been doing dhyan for quite some time. Every day without fail she would write to me seeking my blessings, so that she can move ahead in dhyan. Recently, I got an email from her asking if I could help her find a camera that got lost recently. Such emails, specially from those who have been practising it for long, set me thinking. Why do people do dhyan? It is foolish to think that dhyan would make you immortal. Everything in creation is a combination of five elements, including your body. You are tied to this creation with those five elements through specific centres in the body called chakras .  When you sit for dhyan, you get plenty of thoughts. The thoughts that come to you during dhyan indicate the chakra or sense with which you are tied to creation. That thought will keep coming back to you and when that thought comes, only the lower regions of brain (that control the five senses) will be active. You can have only five kinds of thought...

MERGER OF SHIV AND SHAKTI

Shiv is the doer and may be likened to a vehicle. If you remove ‘i’ from Shiv, it becomes ‘shav’ (corpse). The ‘i’ represents Shakti, which is the fuel that energises this vehicle to perform action. Shakti is the force of the physical world. Shivratri is the night of merger of Shiv and Shakti making a complete whole. Shiv and Shakti pertain to manifest creation and arise from the unmanifest. The journey back to the unmanifest can be carved only through their complete merger which is the ultimate purpose of yoga and Sanatan Kriya . A practical example of merger of Shiv and Shakti is the institution of marriage where the merger of male and female leads to manifestation of a new life. If there is a mismatch in this merger of male and female, or Shiv and Shakti, the marriage remains incomplete. This imbalance is evident in the progeny who will exhibit anti-social and undesirable behaviour and traits. The rishis of yesteryear explained how incompleteness sets into the child in t...
