Mystic Mantra: Practice Yams and Niyams in totality to realise God

Make your connection so powerful that every time you undergo pain, He experiences it too and is forced to look at you and give you what you desire. If we look back in history, some of the most amazing scientific feats are attributed to Bharatvarsha, be it the concept of “shunya” or “purna”, mechanism of solar system, the law of gravitation, Pythagoras theorem, science of metallurgy and more, all were mastered by the Vedic seers. Some of the most wondrous pieces of architecture were built thousands of years ago by the Vedic masters and remain unparalleled in this age of modern technology. Not just this, the strength of their bodies and the abilities they possessed is unheard of in present times as are their descriptions of paranormal and direct interactions with gods and goddesses. Why is it then that so many invasions have taken place and so many times our temples have been looted and plundered, when we had such an advanced culture with so much knowledge? Take a...

THE LORD OF ELEMENTS

The word 'tatva' translates as element, something which is created and not the creator. Everything that is created is composed of 16 tatvas. The first five–prithvi (earth), jal (water), agni (fire), vayu (air) and akash (ether)—pertain to the Bhuloka or earth. The sixth element is the Shiv tatva, which corresponds to the agya chakra, located at the centre of the forehead. Between the visshudhhi and agya, there are 11 more tatvas and yet the Shiv tatva is called the sixth tatva because Shiv is adi, anadi, anant, akhand... which is beyond the comprehension of buddhi. A normal human brain functions on 7-8 per cent efficiency, which is enough for experiences of physical world, but to experience Shiv tatva, activation of higher senses is required. There are three knots in the body—Brahm Granthi, Vishnu Granthi and Rudra Ganthi. It is easiest to open the Brahma Granthi; Vishnu Granthi also opens up relatively easily, but opening the Rudra Granthi is extremely difficult. Till it ope...

THE SHIV CONNECTION

When we read the Puranas or the Upanishads, we find descriptions of great scientific advancements; stories of people with paranormal abilities and direct interactions with Gods. When we consider monuments left behind by the ancients, we see amazing engineering feats and advanced architectural knowledge. Most modern day discoveries already exist in our ancient texts. Ancient Indians were proficient in geometry, grammar, physics, medicine and spiritual quest. Panini introduced grammar to the world for the first time in a complete manner. Literary masterpieces like Kalidasa’s Shakuntala and Kena Upanishad inspired legendary works such as Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe’s Faust. Religious studies scholar Huston Smith, while asserting the supremacy of Vedic sciences over modern astronomy, says: “While the West was still thinking, perhaps of 6,000 years old Universe, India was already envisioning ages and eons, and galaxies as numerous as the sands of the Ganges.” The German philosoph...

THE ART OF SACRIFICE

The science of yagyas is as old as creation. Lord Brahma performed the first yagya. When he performed the yagya, he sacrificed a part of himself. From his sacrifice, manifested 33 devs and devis, who took charge of various aspects of creation. Lord Brahma became the Prajapati, responsible for physical creation. Lord Vishnu took upon the role of preserver. Lord Shiv became responsible for the journey back to the source. Yagyas are the means to nourish creation, to give back to creation and the various energies that run it, all that they have provided for. In every yagya, there is a havi (oblation), which is sacrificed or given back. This sacrifice is not of someone else, or of an animal; the sacrifice is of self or an aspect of self. Lord Brahma sacrificed a part of himself. Ravan too sacrificed his head nine times and only then he had Shiv darshan. Puranic texts abound with instances of men, devs and asurs performing yagyas. They sacrificed a part or desire of self. Yagyas are...

BEING SPIRITUAL IS NOT BEING AN ESCAPIST

We do not find in any book the Great Lord Shiv, who is also called 'Mahadeva', at any point letting go of his responsibilities towards Mata Shakti or his family. So what escapism are we talking about ? "

MAHASHIVRATRI

Nature has its way of providing for balance in this Creation. For every aspect there exists an equal and opposite. Darkness is nothing but absence of Light. Similarly, Silence is nothing but the absence of Sound. It is only the duality in nature, the co-existence of positive and negative that gives meaning to the existence of the whole. What if at any given time, there exists the entire positive and negative? Then the two will balance each other out completely resulting in a shunya, and yet it is poorna or complete. In other words, there would be everything yet nothing. The only form that could fit such a description is the formless – Nirakaar, Para Brahma. This is the swaroop of Shiv.  In the words of Shankaracharya, 'Na Punyam Na Paapam Na Saukhyam Na Dukham Chidananda Rupa Shivoham Shivoham.' What then is the dancing male form, or the half-man-half-woman, or a sadhu clad in loin cloth with body smeared in bhasma? Are Natraj, Ardhnareshwar and Ne...

Lord hanuman | Epitome of knowledge

Atulit baldhamam hem shelabh deham, danujvan krishanum, gyhaninaam agarhganyam, Sakal gun nidhanam, vanaranaam adhisham, Raghupati priybhaktam vaatjatam namami (The one who is the repository of incomparable strength, the one whose body resembles a golden mountain, the one who is the destroyer of forces of demons, the one who is considered foremost among knowledgeable beings. The one who is the repository of all the virtues and good qualities, the one who is the dearest of all devotees to Lord Ram, I salute you.) Lord Hanuman is the giver of gyan. When there is gyan, avidya (ignorance) vanishes. Our problems stem from avidya, which connects us with the unreal. It is because of avidya that a human being attaches himself/herself to health, finances, relationships, social status, etc. all of which are unreal as they are temporary and bound to leave us, and when they leave, they leave us in pain. Is there anything in the physical world that you ...

Lord's Names in Vain

Mount Kailash is the source of shakti for the entire creation. At the time of the Vedic sciences, it corresponded to the north-east direction. With the change of yugas and the shift in the tilt of earth’s axis, it has assumed the north direction presently. In Vedic times, directions were given by looking at and measuring the congruence of energies. Directions played a pivotal role in the process of creation. You must have observed that all auspicious tasks are performed towards the north-east direction, which is called ‘ishan’. Interestingly, Ishan is another name for Lord Shiva. In Vedic times he had eight names—Sharva, Bhava, Rudra, Ugra, Bheem, Pashupati, Ishan and Mahadev, each representing various aspects and forces that play a pivotal role in the Universe. Rudra is the destructive form of Shiva. The specific mantra ‘Rudra-Rudra-Maharudra,’ which when practiced in the presence of a guru, stops the effect of future adversities. As one completes the sadhna of Rudra jaa...

Night of Shiva's Power

Close your eyes. You will open yourself to a vast limitless expanse—the chittakash. Here yogis and sadhaks manifest the unmanifested in deep states of dhyan. How does one experience a limitless expanse between a closed eyelid and the eyeball? It is the first experience of Shiva, which was everything and yet nothing. He is the sum total of opposites—creation being bipolar. Add up the opposites, and the result is zero. Shiva is both purna and shunya. In the higher reaches of Himalayas  sit sadhus in silence, wearing nothing. Yet people from afar undertake arduous journeys  to seek  fulfilment of their desires. How can one, who seemingly has nothing, grant something to those who seemingly have everything, and are unable to acquire? The answer lies in consciousness and the experience of Shiva tatva; of infinity. The higher the level of consciousness rises, the closer he/she is to accessing the infinite, and the greater his/her ability to manifest the ph...

Experiencing the Shiva within to be rid of Maya
