Video | How can vedic havans result in anti-ageing?

Agni or fire is the first word of the Rig Veda. Did you know that according to ayurveda the various agnis in the body are at constant work burning body fuel and along with it body’s resources? For example, in the process of converting food into energy the internal chemical processes affect organs of the body. The heavier the food more the resources required to burn it and convert it into energy, the more the body ages. In a similar manner, fast breathing, sexual act, anger, attachment, greed, violence, sorrow and various kinds of indulgences lead you to engage in intense processing of thoughts, which utilise the body’s resources and engage the various agnis resulting in ageing. So, is there a way to make these agnis ‘shaant’(calm), resulting in anti-ageing, balance and tuning oneself to the subtler frequencies? The answer lies in performing Vedic havans, which are done on a large scale at Dhyan Ashram. Significance of havan and different havan kunds Fire is an eleme...

Wheels of fire

There are five elements in our body, namely are prithvi (earth); jal (water); agni (fire); vayu (air) and akash (ether). These elements form the basis of the physical manifested creation Earth, which is the grossest and heaviest of the five, forms the foundation of the physical body of a being. It is the element of the mooladhar chakra. Jal (water) is the element of the swadhishthan chakra; agni (fire) is the element of the manipoorak chakra; vayu (air), which is the most mobile of all elements, is the basis of the anahat chakra; and akash (ether or space) is the element of the vishuddhi chakra. The manipoorak chakra — the centre of power located at the point corresponding to the navel in the physical body — is the chakra that carries the agni tatwa. Of all the elements, agni is the most distinctive. While it is possible to pollute the other elements, fire is one element that cannot be polluted. Instead it purifies whatever comes in contact with it. In certain prac...

SCIENCE OF YAGYAS

SHIV AND SHAKTI

The sun rises, and sets, and rises again the next morning. Water evaporates, falls back as water, and evaporates once again. The tree blooms, sheds leaves, and bears fresh leaves once again. It is an unending cycle, with no beginning or end, just like the source, the shivling which is an oval, the journey of the spirit being a continuous spiral motion up and down the oval with no beginning or end, the destination of journey being merger with the core. All aspects of creation reside in this form– the good and the bad and the evil. Sunrise too is shiv, sunset too is shiv. In the realm of shiv, there is no distinction. It is up to an individual what part he/she chooses to access. Let us look at the swaroop of shiv parivar. Shiv holds Ganga in his locks which signifies purity, the neck is adorned with Mund-maala (garland of skulls) which is a form of Mahakaal that signifies impurity and at the bottom is urik or vaak charm, again signifying impurity (mrit shareer or dead body)....

BEATING ANXIETY AND STRESS......THE VEDIC WAY

Have you wondered why we like being with some people and why we want to stay away from some?   The reason is simple, anyone who is calm and at peace, or shant creates a serenity around and people feel good in such a person’s company and those who are disturbed, stressed , anxious or ashant create the same disturbance around them thereby giving signals to people to stay away. The difference is the difference in positive and negative vibrations.   The frequency of the waves that a person radiates directly affect his immediate environment, and the Creation at large and as an equal and opposite reaction the state of the person also gets affected by his/her immediate environment. Thus, a person who is troubled, stressed, anxious would spread disturbances into his surroundings, and as its effect he would in turn get more and more disturbed; a vicious circle… and all this would have a chaotic and cumulative effect on the whole environment.   The above cl...

What is the significance of each night of Navratri?

The 9 nights and ten days of Navratras hold within them the energy of ten forms of shakti namely– shailaputri, brahmcharini , chandrakanta , kushmanda, skandmata, katyayani , kaalratri, mahagauri, siddhidatri and aparajitha thus each navratra has a specific purpose. Nine days should be divided into 3 parts of 3 days, each for the three parts of the body. During navratras, weather changes and various energies move from imbalance to stability, including our body. During these nine days, the prana shakti inside our body undergoes a process of re-alignment. Navratras come twice a year and mark a transition in seasons, winter-summer and summer-winter. According to ayurveda, during this time, one should consume nourishing foods and in minimal quantities to rid the body of the toxins collected during the rains. In the navratras weather changes, i.e., various energies of this creation move from imbalance towards a new nnormalcy, including our body.  For this re- alig...

IMPORTANCE OF GAYATRI MANTRA

Article by Yogi Ashwini Ji on Importance of Gayatri Mantra in Andhraprabha   Telugu Paper on 25th May 2016.

THE ART OF SACRIFICE

The science of yagyas is as old as creation. Lord Brahma performed the first yagya. When he performed the yagya, he sacrificed a part of himself. From his sacrifice, manifested 33 devs and devis, who took charge of various aspects of creation. Lord Brahma became the Prajapati, responsible for physical creation. Lord Vishnu took upon the role of preserver. Lord Shiv became responsible for the journey back to the source. Yagyas are the means to nourish creation, to give back to creation and the various energies that run it, all that they have provided for. In every yagya, there is a havi (oblation), which is sacrificed or given back. This sacrifice is not of someone else, or of an animal; the sacrifice is of self or an aspect of self. Lord Brahma sacrificed a part of himself. Ravan too sacrificed his head nine times and only then he had Shiv darshan. Puranic texts abound with instances of men, devs and asurs performing yagyas. They sacrificed a part or desire of self. Yagyas are...

Keeping to His Path

In a havan, we make an offering of samagri to Agni deva, which contains both exotic ingredients like guggul as well as common ingredients like rice and sugar, representing in totality the different aspects of creation. Similarly, our body contains all aspects of  creation , which belong to no specific individual. These keep on changing and exist to aid the forces that run creation. Every moment in the life of a sadhak is a havan, an ahuti made to the devas in his every  thought and action —be it eating, sexual gratification, travel, leisure or even sadhana, which has to be sacrificed after a stage. All these are aspects of the physical, temporary and unreal. The moment a sadhak associates himself with a physical aspect and tries to hold on to it, it is called a dilution in yog. On the other hand, if the sadhak makes an offering to the devas with every physical aspect, it paves way to evolution. Both devas and danavs exist within a being. The aspect that one rela...
