‘Yoga has become a joke’

YOGI ASHWINI. Deccan Chronicle- March 28,2011 Last month he stunned doctors at the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Mumbai, just by looking at photographs of 8 random people — sick and healthy — and identifying the sick ones within 10 minutes. Dhyan Foundation’s Yogi Ashwini’s feat left the doctors speechless. We caught up with the dynamic yogi who is in town for the launch of his book and to hold workshops. On the recent IMA feat, he says, “We asked doctors to give us two types of patients, those with cancer and spinal problems. Most diseases including cancer and trauma are psychosomatic diseases. The emotion manifests and shows. I pointed out the areas where the problems lay and also when the ailments started for all 5 people after seeing their photographs.” “Also, volunteers were made to do 50 minutes of asanas without a break after which the pulse rate of one of the volunteers was checked. It was found the pulse rate had dropped by 15 counts. The doctors were amaz...

The True Meaning of Yoga and Sadhana

by YOGI ASHWINI JI The Times Of India The guru , through shaktipath, initiates a person on the path of sadhana. The process requires immense energy, which is transferred from guru to shishya. If this energy is channelised towards people who have no value for it, the energy dissipates. That is why it is said that knowledge or 'gyan' should not be distributed before people who don't value it. This can also be said for people who come to listen to a discourse not to imbibe gyan but to defy it. These people are not searching; they are ruled by ego. They are not interested in sadhana, are a drain on the energy of the initiator and are no good for the evolution of mankind (which is the purpose of shaktipath). The practice of yog has become a subject of social discussion. It is fashionable to proclaim, "I do yoga..." There are no dearth of people who, for selfish reasons, go around claiming to be yoga masters. What one needs to understand is that yog is not ty...

Still, the Indian government took up with the Russian government the issue of the impending ban on a translation of the Bhagvad Gita by a Russian court. The court has finally rejected the petition for a ban. Should governments be involved in such matters? What are your views?

"Government's prime responsibility is to ensure justice and smooth functioning of the various systems, which are the basis of any country. India primarily being the oldest known civilization and the ol   ldest cultured country has its roots in the teachings of the Vedic Rishis, the Gita being one of the forms of teaching the Vedic thought. The book talks, primarily about detachment and the code of conduct, which should be followed. It does not instigate violence or denounce any other religion it actually steers one beyond the bindings of religion to freedom. Normally it is misunderstood as the Hindu thought and teachings, but anyone who knows about history, well understands that it was written when there was no religion, not even Hinduism (the word Hindu comes from Persian, which is one of the recent languages). Governments should not be involved with the affairs of other countries and should not interfere in their thought process, but definitely the Indian Government has a d...
