Yoga for Eyes and Ears

As per Yoga, it is possible to maintain vision in the eyes along with good hearing abilities till the last, says Yogi Ashwini Yoga was conceived millennia ago; it is a science which has stood the test of time, survived invasions from races across the globe. Yoga has survived because it is shashwat (eternal), what it was, it will remain. Invaders and plunderers can destroy all the records, but they cannot destroy Yoga for it is a blessing straight from the creator. The gyan of Yoga is handed down from the Guru to the shishya, the reason its theories are being rediscovered by modern scientists.  As per Yoga, it is possible to maintain vision in the eyes along with good hearing abilities till the last. We have occipital lobes at the back and temporal lobes in the front of our brain, sides of the brain, right behind the temples. These two are directly connected to the sight and hearing abilities. Actually when you hear, it is not the eardrum that is resonating, it’s the lobe ...

THE PROCESS OF PRANAYAM

Yoga is the science of entire creation. Sun, moon, earth, water, sky, fire as well as human body are various aspects of creation, yoga is the sum total of it all. What is the force that powers the various aspects of creation, that makes them function, that is the subject of yoga. When you do yoga under a guru, you start interacting with these various elements and forces and slowly you become one with them. Take for instance the five elements. We know the body is made up of the five elements, yet we cannot see them. As you do higher practices of yoga, you begin to realize all these in your body and understand their basis. Then the elements listen to you and follow you. You are able to interact with them and affect changes in the body using them. The science of yoga unfolds in stages, first through elements, then consciousness and finally, divinity. Yoga is often mistaken as a healing system of the body. Actually, it is not a healing science, it is the sum total of yam, niyam...

Samay toh pehlan budhapa rokan laye sahi sah kriya di lod

Acts of pleasure fasten ageing

Creation exists in opposites. For darkness, there is light. For sound, there is silence. For happiness, there is sorrow. For pleasure, there is the pain. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. As one indulges in pleasure, whether food or sex, as an equal and opposite reaction, the body ages. The spices in food render it tasty, but also corrode the lining of intestines and increase hyperactivity in body, leading to ageing. Sexual indulgence gives immense pleasure, but also leads to the loss of vital fluid called sukra. In fact, the term coined in Ayurveda for sexual pleasure is ‘sukranash’ or ‘loss of sukra’. According to Ayurveda, the body is composed of seven dhatus—rasa, rakta, mansa, medas, asthi, majja and sukra. These seven dhatus are connected such that loss of one leads to the loss of those preceding it as well. So the loss of sukra entails the loss of all other six dhatus as well. The significance of the Vedic practice of brahmacharya lies herein. Yo...

ANTI-AGEING :BREATHE IT RIGHT

If you trace a person from being an infant to a full grown adult, you will notice, in most cases, a progressive decline in the skin texture and complexion. A baby is glowing pink whereas most adults, even in their prime youth, are plagued with a diseased skin and dull complexion.  This is because, in the process of growing up, one is exposed to certain unnatural practices and stimuli from which it was kept protected in the womb. Take for example, the simple act of breathing. If you observe a baby breathing, you would notice a pronounced abdominal movement. The stomach inflates as it breathes in and deflates as it breathes out. If you observe your own breathing patterns, most likely, you will find it to be the opposite and with little or no abdominal movement…this breathing pattern of yours, holds the key to the way you look and your present state of health. Abdominal breathing maximizes the up and down movement of the diaphragm and ensures that lungs function at their optimal ...

SPIRITUAL EQUATION

When we talk of meditation, we are actually talking about hypnosis; the two words are synonyms, for those who understand both. It is dhyan which actually I am referring to. The present day human being is a devolved version of the beings of the vedic period, where dharma was foremost - even before self and therefore the pollution levels of air, water and soil were negligible. It is only when the human being began retracting his vision towards his individual self and finally, in today's yug, not looking beyond oneself, the environment responded and a plethora of diseases and problems of all kinds - mental, emotional and physical took gigantic and multi-faceted forms. The human race today is on the verge of extinction only due to its myopic vision of creation, limiting to oneself only - the self-destructing philosophy of I, me and myself...all this leading is to a low level of consciousness and vice versa, a vicious circle. The practice of dhyan is a clear exit route fro...

EVERYDAY A NEW HIGH

Being a yoga guru and having students from all walks of life from all over the world, my life would seem very cushy and comfortable with an over-spilling bank balance. But to disappoint all the gurus in the making (who are aiming for overflowing bank balances by getting into selling of yoga) and to scare those who are already doing it, I would like to highlight the reality. To embark on this beautiful journey called yog, you come in contact with various aspects of divinity and a one-to-one connection is developed with them. The siddhis detailed in Patanjali Ashtang Yog are accessed easily – be it wealth, it is at your beck and call without having to sell any complicated asans and kriyas; or the opposite sex, it follows you like bees follow nectar. Even the manifestation of thoughts becomes so fast that you have to only think and the thought materializes. BUT…to disappoint you all, the situation at this point of time becomes like, ‘water, water everywhere not a drop to drink’. ...
