What brought you to this world?

Pause a moment to think, what is it that brought you to this world.  All of us at some point were just a sperm competing with the millions that are produced daily in the human body. The reason why we were born is because we pushed and knocked off the rest of them to come first in the race. This is our basic nature, the reason why we are here - ‘me first’ or simply, selfishness. It is this selfishness that defines everything that we do, including our relationship with people. This is the reason why human relationships do not work out. The reason why you are with someone – be it your friends, parents or spouse is because you want something from them. You are with them only till the time you are getting that from them. As soon as that stops, you will not even look at them. You can try it sometime. The deepest and fondest of relationships come to an end as soon as that give and take is over, and all that remains is grief of what you have lost, what you could have got. Y...

Mystic Mantra: How to become a guru

The purpose of your life is experiencing the desire which brought you here. We take birth because of desire and for a lifetime we remain prisoners of this desire, forgetting the purpose of our life and taking the downward spiral by entangling ourselves in the various attractions of the physical world namely, relationships, career — the web of maya.  The purpose of your life is experiencing the desire which brought you here. And desire is unending, as it starts the cycle of karma until the soul decides that the purpose is over and it needs to go back home. You have to pay back for your every karma. While it’s fine to experience and enjoy the pleasures, it is also important to remember the purpose of your life and that for every pleasure you indulge in, there comes an associated pain. That maintains the balance in this creation. We are limited with our senses and the limitations of our mind cannot comprehend either our life’s purpose or the ways to ac...

Dhyana blocks mentations

There is a lady who has been doing dhyana for quite some time. Everyday without fail she would write to me seeking my blessings, so that she can move ahead in dhyana. Recently, I got a mail from her asking if I could help her find a camera that got lost recently. Such emails, especially from those who have been long practicing, set me thinking. Why do people do dhyana ? Most of the people who come to me either want to pass an exam, some of them desire a better job or relationship and the rest have a heart trouble or a factory that is about to shut. I know this because I keep getting your emails and as I read them, I wonder if I am really a Yoga Guru or a consultant to whom people come for solutions to their various problems. It is foolish to think that dhyana would make you immortal or help you recover a business loss or make your ailing heart hale and ...

SANDS OF TIME

Do you know when Suraiyya died? Do you know when Dev Anand died? Do you know when K L Sehgal died? Or when Rajesh Khanna died? Or do you remember any incidents from their lives after their heydays had passed? If you know any of the above, then it is pointless reading the thoughts below because then they are nonsense. But if you don’t, then these thoughts might turn out life changing for you…so please memorise them. At the peak of their careers each one of the above used to go around with security that was not even given to the politicians of that time, and I am talking about just 40 or so years back. It was said about Dev Anand that there was a court order prohibiting him from wearing a black suit because when he used to wear one and walk on the road, women would commit suicide in the frustration of not having been able to meet him. Suraiyya could not go to her movie premiers as even security could not keep fans at bay and they would mob her. None of the above paid...

DON'T DIE, MERGE BACK INTO SOURCE

It is a scary experience. The first reaction of the passengers usually is to grab their seats tight, some of them fasten their seat belts and some even put on the oxygen mask. But then, would it prevent the plane from crashing? Or would it save them in the event the plane crashes? No. You have boarded the plane and are now moving with the energy of it. The control over the plane is not in your hands, you are a mere passenger. No matter what your social status, how many assets and wealth you possess or how good you look, you cannot save the body or the physical assets. What should you do then, when you realise the plane is crashing? People tell me, will you pray for it not to crash? Maybe your prayers get answered and the plane does not crash that once. But then, how many times and for how long may this work? The physical is temporary, it is bound to go. There is no one I know, who had been able to hold onto anything they collected. The plane has to crash some day. Y...

YOGA PRACTICES FOR A BEAUTIFUL, HEALTHY LIFE

TRAITORS OF PAST LIFE

You have had lives before and you will have lives after this. Life is a continuous process, there is no full stop to it. Modern sciences agree and our rishis have known all along that energy can neither be created, nor destroyed, it only changes form. Similarly the body, which is the five elements, cannot be created or destroyed, it only changes form. Consciousness, too, cannot be created or destroyed, it only changes form. Soul lives in the body and experiences through consciousness. In the last article we had discussed about spiritual traitors – how some people leave the path of spirituality owing to their petty ego and basic attractions and get caught in the spiral of devolution, spelling doom for themselves. Being a spiritual Guru , I have chanced upon many spiritual traitors in my present birth – the bhasmasurs of modern times, who were blessed with siddhis and shaktis of Creation and the first thing they decided to do was, try to use them against the one in whose physical p...

A GURU IS LIFETIME ENERGY

Saffron Under Siege

As early as the Treta Yug, asurs have tried to disrupt creation. Disruption of creation is inevitable. Mahapralay is a natural follow-through of creation and asurs have an important role to play in it. Without the asurs, mahapralay cannot happen, and a new beginning cannot be made. Everything in creation is cyclical, nothing is linear. There is childbirth, death and rebirth. The sun rises and sets to rise again. A seed gives rise to a tree, which produces more seeds for more trees. Moon follows a cycle, as does water. The cyclical pattern is seen in human evolution, too. Lighter thoughts, thoughts for creation and selfless actions make one rise, and heavier thoughts, asuric disposition put one on the descending cycle. There is a limit to how much you can rise or fall, and that depends on the influence asurs and devas have in your life. Ravan, for instance, ascended to be one of the greatest pandits of all times who extemporaneously created the Shiv Tandav Stotram, to perfect w...

In the game of life all points collected are Maya

All of you must have played the game of Mario at some point in life. In Mario, the player  collects the coins, kills the dragon and rescues his girlfriend; every time he collects a hundred coins, he gets a new life and the game goes on. As you play this game, you get thrilled when you collect a coin, or reach a higher level—you stay glued to the screen, oblivious to what is happening around you. Pause for a moment to think—have the coins that you collect helped any of you buy a real car or a good meal? As soon as you switch off the power, the coins disappear, so does the girlfriend. You think you passed the time, but in reality, time passed you. After two hours of play, you are still at the same level, maybe a little lower than what you were, because virtual stimulation dulls your reflexes, your eyes sting and even you don’t know what all junk you had stuffed into your stomach when you were engrossed in the play. The game of Mario was unreal, and the state it left you in, is y...
