Raise your level of being

YOGI ASHWINI Everything in creation is a unique frequency of prana. Consciousness unites with prana to give shape to all things existing in the universe. While prana gives one his/her unique physical state, consciousness channelises his/her thoughts to take shape. Let us take an example. In a company, the CEO sits in a luxurious office and chalks out a plan for the company in a few hours. At the other end of the spectrum is a labourer who spends countless hours every day of his life, bringing the CEO’s thoughts into reality. This is the play of consciousness. Both are unique specimens of consciousness, the ability to manifest. The level of consciousness of the CEO is much higher than that of the labourer and, therefore, the power of his thought. The higher the level, the greater is one’s ability to manifest one’s thoughts. The difference between a successful and an unsuccessful person is their levels of consciousness. How does one increase one’s level of consciousness? Conscio...

Havans for transformation

YOGI ASHWINI. Agni or fire is the first word of the Rig Veda. Did you know that according to ayurveda, the various agnis in the body are at constant work burning the body fuel and along with it the body’s resources? For example, in the process of converting food into energy, the internal chemical processes affect the internal organs of the body. The heavier the food, more the resources required to burn it and convert it into energy, and the more the body ages. In a similar way, fast breathing, the sexual act, anger, attachment, greed, violence, sorrow and various kinds of indulgences lead you to engage in intense processing of thoughts, which utilises the body’s resources and engages the various agnis resulting in ageing. So, is there a way to make these agnis shaant, resulting in anti-ageing, balance and tuning oneself to the subtler frequencies? The answer lies in performing Vedic havans, which are done on a large scale at Dhyan Ashram. Fire is an element that can never be ...

Shivratri

YOGI ASHWINI Nature has its way of providing for balance in this Creation. For every aspect there exists an equal and opposite. Darkness is nothing but absence of light. Similarly, silence is nothing but the absence of sound. It is only the duality in nature, the coexistence of positive and negative that gives meaning to the existence of the whole. What if at any given time, there exist the entire positive and negative? Then the two will balance each other out completely, the net result being shunya or zero. In other words, there would be everything yet nothing. The only form that could fit such a description is the formless – Nirakaar, Para Brahma. This is the swaroop of Shiv. In the words of Shankaracharya, ‘Na Punyam Na Paapam Na Saukhyam Na Dukham, Chidananda Rupa Shivoham Shivoham.’ What then is the dancing male form, or the half-man half-woman, or a sadhu clad in loincloth with body smeared in bhasma? Are Natraj, Ardhnareshwar and Neelkanth a myth? Let us dwell upon the in...

Why I am not invited to PTA's

"One of these days, I was sitting and watching one of the 'spiritual channels'. No, I know my subject, the exercise was out of sheer disbelief at how our culture is being presented or 'packaged'. What I saw were at best attempts to impress or entertain or sell. My son who was sitting by my side, quietly commented, ''This is exactly why I do not take you to my school for PTA's. How would I explain to my friends?'' This got me thinking, what we boast of as our inheritance from the vedic rishis has been reduced to a source of embarrassment for our progeny. Clearly, something is not right, and that something needs serious correction." -Yogi Ashwini

Secrets of creation

YOGI ASHWINI. The Vedic masters gave us the concept of poorna or complete. Everything in this creation is a complete whole. Anything that comes out of this creation is complete and anything that goes back is also complete. You are a poorna ansh of this creation. A cell is a poorna ansh of you. All of you existed as a single cell for thirty minutes of your life. It is this cell which divided and multiplied to form your being. Vedic rishis called it the anu. It is now established that the cell divides only a limited number of times, what is referred to as the Hayflick limit, every new cell being weaker than older one. It is this progressive weakening of the cells that is termed as ageing in the body. But, how can something that is infinite culminate into a finite lifespan? Mathematics tells us that infinity divided by infinity is also infinity…Herein lies the secret to agelessness. While medical science has reported this phenomenon in case of human germ line and cancer cells, for a yogi ...

Thoughts and chakras

YOGI ASHWINI. Everything is your thought. Thoughts are not created within you, they exist in the space around and you simply catch them. The kind of thoughts you catch depends on your individual desires. Let us understand this with the example of a painting of a queen on a dinner table. The hungry would salivate looking at the royal meal, a businessman would evaluate the salability of the painting, a sexually charged person would lust over the beauty of queen and a power-savvy would be envious of her authority. Thus in the same situation, different people would catch different thoughts. What is it that determines the kind of thoughts you will catch? The answer lies in the whirling pools of energy called chakras. It is a common misperception that chakras reside in the physical body. A chakra however is not physical. It is etheric and one requires the development of higher senses through practices like Sanatan Kriya to see it. It is made of subtle prana and controls the vitals ...

Dharma In Sync With Nature

Yog is to be one with nature. In this sense, anything that follows the code of nature is in yog. Suppose we observe the things around us, say a tree. Green leaves, branches spreading far and wide, fruits and flowers, a tall thick trunk and roots that run deep into the ground that's what we would expect to see. Now, if one were to imagine a tree devoid of these attributes, would it still be called a tree? Why doesn't a tree (even in our imagination) exist without these attributes? This is because each of these individual traits is indispensable for the tree to perform its dharma. A tree withstands the vagaries of nature - storms, downpours• and floods- to protect the flora, fauna and soil. A tree provides for those around it - animals, birds and insects with food and shelter, as nurturer and healer. A tree purifies the air around it, binds the soil together, participates in causing rain, a tree decomposes to enrich the earth and it befriends the environment. The tree...

The Final Frontier

YOGI ASHWINI. Our civilisation is the lone civilisation that has the concept of Guru. It is important to understand here that Guru is not the physical. It is an energy that can flow through a person, a stone, a book or anything else, provided the shishya has the Guru bhaav. While the energy of Guru is limitless; it is upon the shishya how much he/she chooses to receive. You get a Guru as per your level of evolution. A Guru sees the capacity of the shishya and relates to him/her accordingly. The thoughts and desires of the shishya determine how he/she sees his/her Guru. Being in the sanidhya of the Guru, the thoughts of the shishya manifest, and the Guru has to respond the same way. In ancient times, Gurus used to exhibit phenomenal power - because there existed shishyas who respected the science and the energy. Likewise, the energy respected the shishyas and endowed them with phenomenal gyana. There was a reason why our ancients would denounce material pleasures and stay in ashram...
