Prepare To Receive Supreme Energy

Our body is a poorna ansh or integral part of creation that is run by various shaktis or energies. Each day of the 365 days in a year is governed by a specific shakti; hence the yogsutras stress the importance of niyam. If you skip your practices for even a single day, then the shakti or energy of that day is left behind and the sadhna or practice of the entire year becomes compromised because if even a single thing is removed from Creation, it will impact everything around. So the niyam of your practices must not be broken.

The days leading to Diwali are especially powerful and a sadhak should keep his mind focused for it is said the sadhna of this time is equivalent to the sadhna of many months put together. On the night of Diwali, there is a congregation of powerful energies and their access becomes much simpler than on normal days. While most are busy lighting lamps, eating sweets and playing cards, as the night of amavasya approaches, it is time for shakti sadhna.

Most people spend the day decorating the house in the hope that all of that will attract Goddess Lakshmi who will then bless them with wealth and prosperity. Wealth, power, status, relationships are all physical and hence temporary. All physical things have a limited life and give intense pain when they are going... and go they will. The more you have, the more the pain. This is maya, illusion, and there is no escape. One has to go beyond it and the night of Diwali is perfect for it. The night is an energy-filled one; make the best use of it.

So understand the importance of each day and its shakti. There is no shakti in creation which you cannot access.  Each one of you is a divine being going through a human experience each has the capacity to create all things physical. The choice is yours whether you want to chase maya or whether you wish to distance yourself from maya and who knows, maya begins to chase you! The physical world being temporary, it is important to be aware of the fact. Therefore, detachment is the key to success.

The lights and diyas of Diwali relate to 'tamso ma jyotirgamaya' (take me from darkness to light). Just like light is misunderstood as lighting lamps and not internal gyan, Diwali is misunderstood for 'getting wealth and more wealth' rather than 'get wealth and detach me from it as it is physical and so temporary.’

Physical pleasures and wealth are a direct consequence of your karma...so is pain and poverty. To achieve wealth one must improve his karmas by doing service and charity and chanting specific mantras. Therefore, instead of waiting for Goddess Lakshmi to come to your house and shower wealth upon you, this Diwali try something different. Ask, but also give. Have fun, but also be prepared by asking for detachment from the physical.

Remember that what happens inside a being is what is reality; external manifestations are only its reflection. Don’t attempt to change the reflection but try to change the real thing. May you all realise the full potential of the Supreme energy on this beautiful festival of lights, Diwali.

MERGER OF SHIV AND SHAKTI

Shiv is the doer and may be likened to a vehicle. If you remove ‘i’ from Shiv, it becomes ‘shav’ (corpse). The ‘i’ represents Shakti, which is the fuel that energises this vehicle to perform action. Shakti is the force of the physical world. Shivratri is the night of merger of Shiv and Shakti making a complete whole. Shiv and Shakti pertain to manifest creation and arise from the unmanifest. The journey back to the unmanifest can be carved only through their complete merger which is the ultimate purpose of yoga and Sanatan Kriya . A practical example of merger of Shiv and Shakti is the institution of marriage where the merger of male and female leads to manifestation of a new life. If there is a mismatch in this merger of male and female, or Shiv and Shakti, the marriage remains incomplete. This imbalance is evident in the progeny who will exhibit anti-social and undesirable behaviour and traits. The rishis of yesteryear explained how incompleteness sets into the child in t...

Chakra Beej Kriya: Part 1

Yog is not about twisting and turning yourself into knots and complicated postures, yog taps into the power of consciousness. As you practice yog in totality, as prescribed, you start glowing and the immunity of the body heightens, slowly you begin to exude the glow of the sun. The body that we greet in the mirror everyday is run by a higher force, which is invisible to the naked eye but very clearly visible to a clairvoyant in the form of colours and to a clairaudient in the form of specific sounds. These colours and sounds correspond to certain energy centers in the body, which control and govern various body parts and functions. Much before you identify symptoms of a disease or ailment and decide to visit a doctor, these symptoms are perceived by a yogic practitioner in the form of change in colour, texture, size and sound of various chakras. Sanatan Kriya prescribes various techniques under the topic of self-healing to access this invisible sheath of the body and through...
