Art of silence the key to evolution

 By Yogi Ashwini

The mind and the brain control the human body. What is it that controls the brain and the mind? Definitely not the body; otherwise it will become a vicious circle. The brain and the mind are controlled by the desire of the soul. What does a soul desire?
Close your eyes and see what is going on inside your brain; give it two minutes. You will realise that there are so many thoughts that are running inside you; so many different things you want—children, family, spouse, business, emotions. All these thoughts indicate to you the desire of the soul. It is because of these thoughts or desires that you are unable to go beyond the human existence and you cannot find peace and happiness within your body. All that is physical is temporary and what is temporary is painful—the reason for the pain that you experience day in and day out in the pursuit of these desires.
When the mind is engaged in thoughts of money, family, business, relationships and more, you cannot obviously think of anything beyond these; because the mind can only do one thing and think of one thing at a time. Ayurveda says that you have five senses, of which only one is active at any given time. They alternate so fast that you cannot feel it happening; so, when you think, your thought process has to belong to one sense only. Our bodies are programmed to achieve whatever they want provided it’s only one thing at a time. Words like ekagrata, ek tatva nirantar abhyas, bhumadhya indicate the path to success as having a single pointed focus.
Sanatan Kriya details this. The problem starts when our desires divide. Multiplicity of desires leads one to becoming unsure. This lack of understanding of what one actually wants in life results in success evading people; it’s like putting five litres of petrol in five different cars, and expect each to move forward.
The reason you continue to live in this delusional world is that your successive thoughts concern and enslave you to the physical world, preventing you from going beyond. Because that desire is what will shape your birth. Desire of the physical will only shape a birth enmeshed in the physical world. When we talk about going beyond, it is nice to read books, but it is completely redundant as far as your spiritual journey goes because the book is somebody else’s thought, and somebody else’s experience. When you think of someone else’s experience and thoughts, then you will get carried away in that thought process, which is not yours. That is why it is said, “Yoga ek tatva nirantar abhyas”.
Silence. When you  silence your mind, will you be able to go beyond? Sanatan Kriya is an effective tool, because once your mind is silent,  your thought process will be focussed on creation.Only then will the majesty of creation be revealed to you and you be able to reach the higher dimensions. In science they say that there is a primitive mind and a developed mind. You will be surprised to know that the medulla oblongata, the lower part of the brain, is called the primitive mind because it is responsible for basic thoughts, basic levels of inhalation and exhalation, which is called primitive breathing. Altering the breathing process by pranayams requires higher brain centres to be involved and hence they are called advanced breathing patterns. Scientists have discovered that when you silence your mind,  the higher centres of the brain get activated. When you are in that state, you concentrate on the higher centres and then revelations happen. These are already within you, but because you are so busy with thoughts of the physical, you are not able to access them.
When you still your mind by doing Sanatan Kriya, you are able to access those higher energies. When revelations come to you, you are called a gyani, though it is not  the same as being called  a knowledgeable person. You need to experience that knowledge yourself, which is also called gyan. The Vedas were revealed when the rishis went into silence. Focus your thoughts on the higher centres of the brain by practicing the art of silence. From silence emerges everything, and everything returns to silence—just like everything emerges and goes back to darkness. So if you want to create, then you have go into that silence, ‘ek tatva nirantar abhyas,’—a single one pointed focus. This is what is going to cause you to evolve to the higher plane and grant you the actual gyan of creation. All the rest is useless, and will only keep you going around in circles.

MERGER OF SHIV AND SHAKTI

Shiv is the doer and may be likened to a vehicle. If you remove ‘i’ from Shiv, it becomes ‘shav’ (corpse). The ‘i’ represents Shakti, which is the fuel that energises this vehicle to perform action. Shakti is the force of the physical world. Shivratri is the night of merger of Shiv and Shakti making a complete whole. Shiv and Shakti pertain to manifest creation and arise from the unmanifest. The journey back to the unmanifest can be carved only through their complete merger which is the ultimate purpose of yoga and Sanatan Kriya . A practical example of merger of Shiv and Shakti is the institution of marriage where the merger of male and female leads to manifestation of a new life. If there is a mismatch in this merger of male and female, or Shiv and Shakti, the marriage remains incomplete. This imbalance is evident in the progeny who will exhibit anti-social and undesirable behaviour and traits. The rishis of yesteryear explained how incompleteness sets into the child in t...

Chakra Beej Kriya: Part 1

Yog is not about twisting and turning yourself into knots and complicated postures, yog taps into the power of consciousness. As you practice yog in totality, as prescribed, you start glowing and the immunity of the body heightens, slowly you begin to exude the glow of the sun. The body that we greet in the mirror everyday is run by a higher force, which is invisible to the naked eye but very clearly visible to a clairvoyant in the form of colours and to a clairaudient in the form of specific sounds. These colours and sounds correspond to certain energy centers in the body, which control and govern various body parts and functions. Much before you identify symptoms of a disease or ailment and decide to visit a doctor, these symptoms are perceived by a yogic practitioner in the form of change in colour, texture, size and sound of various chakras. Sanatan Kriya prescribes various techniques under the topic of self-healing to access this invisible sheath of the body and through...
