Love is considered a magical word. Volumes have been written on the subject of love all across the world. A famous saying goes, ‘If you love something, set it free. If it comes back to you, it is yours. If it does not, it never was.’ This definition of love is universal over all religions, nationalities, communities and the world. The problem begins when we confuse love with lust or a physical desire. On doing this, the pure emotion turns into possession and fear, fear of losing what you want to possess. So on the entry of this emotion, the four-letter word loses its magic and the divinity associated with it.
In a human being, the anahad chakra, located at the center of the chest cavity, governs the need for love. There are very few, who with yogic practices like Sanatan Kriya or with karmas of previous lives are able to form connections at the level of anahad. The closest example of a connection made at this level would be the unconditional love of a mother towards her baby. Most adult relationships are limited to connections of the lower chakras – mooladhar for material comforts, swadishthan for sexual pleasures and manipoorak for the need for power and status, depending upon the state of evolution of a being.
