'Being a Guru Isn't Easy'

Yogi Ashwini, is the creator of Sanatan Kriya, working tirelessly to revive the ancient Vedic sciences. He recently took Vanaprastha. Excerpts from an interview: How did you become a seeker? The life, for an ordinary person who is not in yog, is limited to ‘his’ family, ‘his’ friend circle, ‘his’ job, ‘his’ share of joys and sorrows… so was mine. Someone in the family had cancer and like any ordinary person, I set out to find a cure. I met many masters, experts, therapists and healers from across the world and emptied my pockets. The person died, but my search continued, this time to find yog. It led me to my guru. The guru through the dual process of kaya-sthiram and tatva-gyan, followed by shakti-path, opens the unutilised centres of the brain and secrets of creation are revealed to you—you become a gyani. How difficult was it for you to stay focused on this path and experience the ultimate truth? Yog is not easy, yet it is very easy. All it requires is ‘ek tatva nirant...

Sanatan Kriya Workshop

“You eat every day and you sleep every day. They are the essentials of life. Sanatan Kriya is the essential of creation, of which life is just a part...” -Yogi Ashwini Sanatan Kriya, meaning, the complete technique, is a Yogic Kriya based on Vedic texts that encapsulates all the eight limbs of Sage Patanjali’s Ashtang Yog. It is simple to do; involves no complicated twists and turns of the body and has a phenomenal impact on the physical, mental and emotional health of a person. The kriya can easily be incorporated into the hectic lifestyle of modern man. What makes Sanatan Kriya different? Just like in an organization the labour union is under the control of the manager who is under the control of the CEO, in our body too there exists a hierarchy where outer layers control and affect a change in the physical layer, or the body that we see. Sanatan Kriya touches upon all layers of a being, enabling one to affect a desired change and balance from core to periphery. What also mak...

The Stillness of Karmic Liberation

The whole of  Bhagavad Gita  is about the Law of  Karma . It is often said, “You shall reap what you sow”. When you sow, the germination and the quality of the plant you will get depends on the fertility of the soil. Similarly, every act of ours, however insignificant it may be, has the potential to germinate and have an effect depending on how and where it has been performed. It is said that we are all born in this world with empty hands, and one day we will all die empty handed. Alexander the Great, when he was breathing his last, had expressed the desire that when his body is being taken away, his hands should be left hanging loose to make people understand that one comes to the world empty handed and leaves it empty handed. But this is not exactly true. You’ll never find a  yogi  expressing a thought like that, for he knows that what he brings along and what he takes away when he leaves his body is  karma . There is always a dif...

The Water Principle

A lotus emerges in water, and is the seat of gods and goddesses. The first avatar of Lord Vishnu, who keeps the Creation going, was the matsya avatar, which emerged from water and guided Manu and the Saptrishis, for Creation to begin. Hence, all creation emerged from water and, it will go back into water. Every culture of the world talks about a massive flood, which brings the end of Creation—the mahapralay, before a new era begins. Our body, too, emerged from water. Water is the governing element of the swadishthan chakra, which is responsible for procreation. Similarly, when the body perishes, whatever is left after the last rites is returned to water. Seventy per cent of the earth is water; so is our body. Water is the element which contains all the other elements —prithvi, akash, vayu and agni. Such is the importance of the jal tattva in Creation and our body. The journey of the spirit begins from the mooladhar, through the swadishthan, manipoorak, anahad,...

The power of the higher mind

Everything in creation is a unique frequency of prana (the universal force which translates in different frequencies to form all objects). The difference between a plant, an animal or a human — or even two humans — is due to the difference in the frequency of the pranic force vibrating in them. This is  why we enjoy the company of certain people and feel uncomfortable in the presence of some others. We relate to what exists within our pranic frequency and are unable to gel with those which are higher or lower.   Consciousness  is the ability to manifest an individual’s pranic force as per his capacity. It unites with prana to shape all things existing in the universe. Consciousness makes you what you are in the physical  world . Prana gives you your unique physical state, consciousness channelises your thoughts to take shape. Every thought is a potential manifestation. The level of consciousness of the person who is thinking is directly proportional to ...

Ram Navami energies

Ram Navami  falls on the ninth day of the waxing moon in the month of chaitra. The day marks the birth Shri Ram, an incarnation of Lord  Vishnu,  and is commonly seen as a hindu holiday. Let us delve a little deeper on the term ‘hindu’. The term ‘hindu’, as a vast majority of people who live in  Bharat  identifies themselves with, which many mistake to be a religion, was actually coined by the Persians to refer to the people who lived on this side of the Indus river. Till that time there was no concept of religion in  Bharat  and nobody was a hindu. In fact, till the time of Mahabharat, that is,  dwapar yug , even surnames did not exist. Lord Rama was on earth at a time much before the Mahabharat, referred to as the  treta yug ...at that time, there was definitely no religion nor “hindus”. How he became a hindu god and his birthday, a hindu festival, beats all logic. These were the times of the  vedic rishis , the  ri...

Satsang: The Company You Keep

When you keep an iron nail next to a magnet, after some time, the nail starts exhibiting magnetism. If you pour hot water on ice, after some time the ice melts and the water becomes cold. Mythology speaks of Parasmani, the magical stone, the touch of which changes everything to gold.  A rotten fruit causes all other fruits in the basket to rot. The case of human beings is no different. An English proverb says that a man is known by the company he keeps. When two people spend a lot of time together, after some time they start becoming like each other. This happens because in every interaction that we have – with a person, animal, plant or thing -- there occurs an exchange of prana, breath. In the realm of ether and to a clairvoyant eye, this is visible as change in colour of the aura – yellow interacts with blue to become green; the same yellow when it interacts with black, becomes brown.  That is why our ancestors emphasised the importan...

Lord's Names in Vain

Mount Kailash is the source of shakti for the entire creation. At the time of the Vedic sciences, it corresponded to the north-east direction. With the change of yugas and the shift in the tilt of earth’s axis, it has assumed the north direction presently. In Vedic times, directions were given by looking at and measuring the congruence of energies. Directions played a pivotal role in the process of creation. You must have observed that all auspicious tasks are performed towards the north-east direction, which is called ‘ishan’. Interestingly, Ishan is another name for Lord Shiva. In Vedic times he had eight names—Sharva, Bhava, Rudra, Ugra, Bheem, Pashupati, Ishan and Mahadev, each representing various aspects and forces that play a pivotal role in the Universe. Rudra is the destructive form of Shiva. The specific mantra ‘Rudra-Rudra-Maharudra,’ which when practiced in the presence of a guru, stops the effect of future adversities. As one completes the sadhna of Rudra jaa...

THOUGHTS FOR THE ADEPT -1 Sermons of Yogi Ashwini

Creation consists of many aspects, some are perceivable by the five senses and for some, higher senses are required which require opening of the third eye. Today’s men being ruled by desire have little inclination to go beyond the realm of five senses and their objects. Through these sermons I have tried to expand the realm of desires of people so that the quest to access the final frontier sets in and the journey of the spirit takes a new dimension. I have picked up concepts and critically discussed the cause and effect of higher senses and what lies beyond the realm of five senses. The book is for the people who have a little background of yog and for those who want to know beyond the realm of five senses. - Yogi Ashwini About the book A collection of sermons of Yogi Ashwini released in the year of his entering  vanprastha  ashram, this book is the first volume of the two, a collector’s dream. The sermons give a deep insigh...
