The Miraculous Effect of Colours

Physical creation, as we know, is a manifestation of prana in the form the five elements perceived through smell, taste, colour, touch and sound. In this series of articles we will delve into creation through the prana of colours, as experienced by the sense of sight, both physical and yogic (referred to as clairvoyance).
In the shade card of a painter, you will see millions of hues and their shades and tints. Creation is no different. It is a palette of precise combinations of certain colours, their specific shades corresponding to specific shaktis that have specific roles to play. If you observe the sun, you will notice that it keeps changing colors through the day—gold, saffron, pink, orange, red, yellow, with each particular colour being visible only for a limited time span, as per the needs of creation. That is why the sun is called the source of all shakti (energy on this planet).
As one progresses in yog, he or she is made to experience other colours and shaktis and also how to channelise them for the purpose of aiding creation. In the elementary stages of Sanatan Kriya, a sadhak is introduced to only one colour—the lightest shade of pink. Pink is the colour of pure love, which is about letting go of the person you love and to live for him or her. Normally love is confused with possession and the enforcement of your will over your lover, which in reality is lust and is guided by insecurities instead of love. The former is a shade of brown and the latter is pink in colour.
Pink is channelised through the Anahat Chakra, which remains dormant for majority of people in today’s day and age, because nobody needs it. When the Anahat Chakra is unfunctional, pink light remains in creation and is rendered useless for humans.
Pink is very rare colour in nature. You can find it in only a few flowers and only at the time of dawn and dusk; and that, too,  for barely two minutes. If you can access only four minutes of pink in a day, it is sufficient. If the quantity of pink increases more than that, it will not be possible to live here. In Sanatan Kriya, very minute quantities of light pink are used and that much is able to render a magnificent glow and attraction to a practitioner.
Compare this with green—the colour for cleansing. It is in abundance because there is the maximum need for cleansing on this planet. When the body is purified by performing various shatkarmas, we make use of certain fluids that are green in colour such as margosa (neem), basil (tulsi), bitter gourd (karela) and gooseberry (amla). All of these are extremely effective cleansing agents. Here too there is a difference of shade: bitter gourd is darker while neem is lighter—hence,  they cater to different cleansing roles. In the world of colours the lighter shades are more potent.
The shakti of the Guru comes from golden colour. In states of dhyan, when one becomes aware of one’s Guru, the energy becomes visible to all. While it is important for your Guru to inhabit a physical body, the Guru is not that body. When you access your Guru in the dimension of energy, you will never see the physical form; you will either see a colour or the energy form. The Guru is a force with which you can easily connect to, and see, provided there is no veil or barrier in between you and your Guru. In fact, not only do you see the energy form, but can also communicate with that energy, whenever you want to. This, however, is subject of personal experience and cannot be understood intellectually.
Then there is the colour blue, which is the colour of spirituality, the colour of sky. When you become aware of Lord Shiva, you see blue because the real form of Lord Shiva is not that of a person, since each shakti is identified by its specific colour.
Each colour around you has a purpose and a quality, but to understand it you have to experience it. To experience it, you have to step into yog, not one as most understand yog (rapid breathing and complicated asanas) but as it is given in the sutras. In the next article, we will delve deeper into the science of colours and their effect.
Yogi Ashwini is the spiritual head of Dhyan Ashram.

MERGER OF SHIV AND SHAKTI

Shiv is the doer and may be likened to a vehicle. If you remove ‘i’ from Shiv, it becomes ‘shav’ (corpse). The ‘i’ represents Shakti, which is the fuel that energises this vehicle to perform action. Shakti is the force of the physical world. Shivratri is the night of merger of Shiv and Shakti making a complete whole. Shiv and Shakti pertain to manifest creation and arise from the unmanifest. The journey back to the unmanifest can be carved only through their complete merger which is the ultimate purpose of yoga and Sanatan Kriya . A practical example of merger of Shiv and Shakti is the institution of marriage where the merger of male and female leads to manifestation of a new life. If there is a mismatch in this merger of male and female, or Shiv and Shakti, the marriage remains incomplete. This imbalance is evident in the progeny who will exhibit anti-social and undesirable behaviour and traits. The rishis of yesteryear explained how incompleteness sets into the child in t...

Chakra Beej Kriya: Part 1

Yog is not about twisting and turning yourself into knots and complicated postures, yog taps into the power of consciousness. As you practice yog in totality, as prescribed, you start glowing and the immunity of the body heightens, slowly you begin to exude the glow of the sun. The body that we greet in the mirror everyday is run by a higher force, which is invisible to the naked eye but very clearly visible to a clairvoyant in the form of colours and to a clairaudient in the form of specific sounds. These colours and sounds correspond to certain energy centers in the body, which control and govern various body parts and functions. Much before you identify symptoms of a disease or ailment and decide to visit a doctor, these symptoms are perceived by a yogic practitioner in the form of change in colour, texture, size and sound of various chakras. Sanatan Kriya prescribes various techniques under the topic of self-healing to access this invisible sheath of the body and through...
