'Being a Guru Isn't Easy'

Yogi Ashwini, is the creator of Sanatan Kriya, working tirelessly to revive the ancient Vedic sciences. He recently took Vanaprastha. Excerpts from an interview: How did you become a seeker? The life, for an ordinary person who is not in yog, is limited to ‘his’ family, ‘his’ friend circle, ‘his’ job, ‘his’ share of joys and sorrows… so was mine. Someone in the family had cancer and like any ordinary person, I set out to find a cure. I met many masters, experts, therapists and healers from across the world and emptied my pockets. The person died, but my search continued, this time to find yog. It led me to my guru. The guru through the dual process of kaya-sthiram and tatva-gyan, followed by shakti-path, opens the unutilised centres of the brain and secrets of creation are revealed to you—you become a gyani. How difficult was it for you to stay focused on this path and experience the ultimate truth? Yog is not easy, yet it is very easy. All it requires is ‘ek tatva nirant...

Sanatan Kriya Workshop

“You eat every day and you sleep every day. They are the essentials of life. Sanatan Kriya is the essential of creation, of which life is just a part...” -Yogi Ashwini Sanatan Kriya, meaning, the complete technique, is a Yogic Kriya based on Vedic texts that encapsulates all the eight limbs of Sage Patanjali’s Ashtang Yog. It is simple to do; involves no complicated twists and turns of the body and has a phenomenal impact on the physical, mental and emotional health of a person. The kriya can easily be incorporated into the hectic lifestyle of modern man. What makes Sanatan Kriya different? Just like in an organization the labour union is under the control of the manager who is under the control of the CEO, in our body too there exists a hierarchy where outer layers control and affect a change in the physical layer, or the body that we see. Sanatan Kriya touches upon all layers of a being, enabling one to affect a desired change and balance from core to periphery. What also mak...

The Stillness of Karmic Liberation

The whole of  Bhagavad Gita  is about the Law of  Karma . It is often said, “You shall reap what you sow”. When you sow, the germination and the quality of the plant you will get depends on the fertility of the soil. Similarly, every act of ours, however insignificant it may be, has the potential to germinate and have an effect depending on how and where it has been performed. It is said that we are all born in this world with empty hands, and one day we will all die empty handed. Alexander the Great, when he was breathing his last, had expressed the desire that when his body is being taken away, his hands should be left hanging loose to make people understand that one comes to the world empty handed and leaves it empty handed. But this is not exactly true. You’ll never find a  yogi  expressing a thought like that, for he knows that what he brings along and what he takes away when he leaves his body is  karma . There is always a dif...

The Water Principle

A lotus emerges in water, and is the seat of gods and goddesses. The first avatar of Lord Vishnu, who keeps the Creation going, was the matsya avatar, which emerged from water and guided Manu and the Saptrishis, for Creation to begin. Hence, all creation emerged from water and, it will go back into water. Every culture of the world talks about a massive flood, which brings the end of Creation—the mahapralay, before a new era begins. Our body, too, emerged from water. Water is the governing element of the swadishthan chakra, which is responsible for procreation. Similarly, when the body perishes, whatever is left after the last rites is returned to water. Seventy per cent of the earth is water; so is our body. Water is the element which contains all the other elements —prithvi, akash, vayu and agni. Such is the importance of the jal tattva in Creation and our body. The journey of the spirit begins from the mooladhar, through the swadishthan, manipoorak, anahad,...
